I'm a happy owner of a Sony DSC-V1 and i recently decided to upgrade the Memory Stick to use in the DSC-V1.

I experimented a friend's normal Memory Stick but it seemed a bit slow to me. I was thinking to buy a Memory Stick Pro or the new Sandisk Extreme III Memory Stick Pro wich writes muck more faster than the average Memory Stick Pro.

now:

1 - Will i notice any diferences from the Normal Memory Stick to the Memory Stick Pro?

2 - And from the Memory Stick Pro to the Sandisk Extreme III Memory Stick Pro?

3 - Will my Sony DSC-V1 use the full writing speed off these new ultra-fast Sandisk Extreme Memory Stick Pro cards ? I mean, does the digital camera have enough operating speed to write to the card that fast: i think these new cards write at 18Mb/s (megabytes per second).

Thank you all, in advance

in normal operation you won't notice too much difference, but you will notice a difference in formatting speed and possibly in burst mode. I have both and usually use the pro unless i am squeezed for space. if buying new, i would definitely get the pro.

ps...it's a great little cam once you get to know it well.

I would agree that my V1 experience with Memory Stick/Memory Stick Pro experiences track right with yours. I would consider any premium spent on Ultra speed sticks as wasted money.

Memory Stick Pro (Sony or SanDisk) is as good as it gets for the V1 which was not designed to use the Extreme III's 'Super Parallel Processing' technology. So spend your memory money on a larger capacity MSP (btw, be sure to checkout the great MSP prices I found and posted here today)!
