I recently purchased a 2x tele extender called a Kenko KVC-20 for use on my c-3030. This thing is the worst photographic accessory I have ever purchased. It is blurry and cuts off one corner of every picture. Never, never buy a Kenko KVC-20.

I suspect you are doing something wrong in the mounting. I own a number of Kenko lenses (2x, 3x, 5x) and have been quite satisfied with the performance; considering the lenses are designed for video. I use them on either a C2000, C2040, and C3030; no problem. First, with the lens off camera, is the projected image sharp to the eye? The lens is a simple telescope. If the image you see off camera is sharp visually, then you have a mounting problem. You should be using an accessory tube (many types available) and the appropiate step-up ring to mount the lens to the camera. You want to get the camera lens as close to the rear lens of the teleconverter as possible,, so if you can get a direct mounting tube thast would be better a(e.g. 41

Hi Albert,

I hope you are not one of those who are misled by the so-called optics expert in this forum and buy a kenko lens. I have warned here before that don't trust those 'experts' who recommended a kenko telephoto which is only barely good for 700000~pixel videocams. Even those pictures posed by the 'expert' are blurried to the extreme with unacceptable CA, and they still claimed they are 'quite satisfied' with the lens. This forum is unforuately ruined by someone probably with a purpose or connected with certain product or simply with aged eyesight.

I think you should check your premises buster! The guy already owns the lens!! And FYI I have 20-20 un-corrected vision. And I still wonder why all the top on-line digicam sources for lenses have made the Kenko's their main line of teleconverters. Somebody else is also misled; except thou!

Have followed Barry's posting on this site for months now and using his advice my photo experiences have been vastly improved. He has cited the goods and bads, problems and solutions for the new DC users like me and it has been very helpful. I have 2X and 3X Kenko lenses and the 8X Crystalview Sharpshooter. They work just the way Barry said they would - not perfect in some cases but better than not having the longer lens and I don't mind cropping out the vignetting on some photos and on others it seems to add a little something.

By the way, I have had cataracts removed from both eyes and have implants in both eyes for almost 25 years. I have my eyes checked every year and have not had to have my prescription changes in 5 years. I only wear glasses for reading small print. So in this day and age of wonders being done in optics - both glasses and cameras - even "OLD" eyes can see pretty darn well.

Thanks for all the help you've given many of us, Barry!
