I have been thinking about it, I have till the 23rd to return it to Sears. So far I love the S-75 better than any digicam I have owned, in fact I think I like the colors better on the S-75 than S-85 from what I have seen. I know that if I do return it I will have to wait till the end of July maybe till august without a piece. I tell you these forums can drive a person nuts! I guess Iam still contemplaiting it, I hate being #2. So is anyone planing in returning it?

Why would you consider replacing something you know you like with something that is more money that you already know you like less? You will be number 2 or 3 or 10, the moment you buy the s85. Why? Evolution is happening at lightning speed. What do you think Canon will introduce? Nikon? THIS CYCLE WILL NOT END ANY TIME SOON.

Thanks Sony for making my new purchase obsolete within two weeks. The top of the line is now at the bottom. Also I can’t stand supporting Sony with their proprietary memory format “memory stick also. Never again sony!

Gee.. how do the people that have the P30, P50, S30, S50, P1, S70 feel?

Okay folks... I am calling Sony up this minute and I am telling them to never, ever, ever, ever make another digital camera again. They need to stick with what they have because people in this forum's more concerned bout having the latest rather than going out and taking pictures. Geez folks, do you have keyboards attached to your camera? Go and get a life and take some pictures!!!! Forget about what's coming out next year, next month, next week!!! And excuse Sony for inventing the Memory Stick... gosh, what were they thinking when they tried to make everyone's life a little easier?

I bought a Lexmark Z42 printer... a week later, they have the Z43 printer. Should Lexmark stop me at the cash register and tell me "No, don't buy this printer. Wait a week and we will have a new improved model. If you can't wait a week, go buy our competitor's printer so you won't feel cheated"

Come on people... go out... take some pictures with what you have... and let's talk about the pictures and learn from each other. Aren't you even grateful that Sony did come out with wonderful cameras? The only thing that I am upset about is that there's too many good Sony cameras to choose from!!! But choice is good... and we each have a camera based on our needs.

I enjoy seeing pictures from the P1, S70, S75, F505V, and the CD200/300's.... it's fun to see what people can do with their cameras. Sadly, I don't see any pictures from the S30 and S50 people... I have seen one person post comments about it taking AA batteries and I'm not sure they got past the battery issue to even take some pictures or get them transferred to their pc.

Anyway's... you guys have been great when it comes to answering questions and with sharing pctures... but lately, this whining about a camera that's not even on the shelves has got to stop! Every forum that I've been to always has issues with noise, CA, etc... it's common in all digital cameras and probably will for the next ocuple of generations. When the Dimage 5 or 7 was talked about... a lot of people wanted to go for that... but why?

Thanks
T. L. Rutter

Do you HAVE to have the top of the line camera? How can a top of the line become the bottom one? Jumped over S70? I know it s*cks to see a new model came out after 2 weeks of purchase(for me, 3 weeks), but are you going to use all the new features daily such as burst mode, bracketing? It's nice to know the feature is there to use if needed, but I doubt that it will kill ya if you don't have it...

I don't know 'bout you, but I'm gonna use S75 to learn the arts of photography, learn to see the lighting and know exactly what settings should be used so I don't depends too much on built-in feature such as bracketing.

Let's see, I bought a memory stick camera two weeks ago, but now that they introduced another camera, I don't like memory stick.

HuH?!

You do that.....Sony will just keep on release S95(blue color), S105(iMac like casing), S205(pure titanium casing), etc. every week until they are tired of making money. ;-)

Good grief.

My grandmother is proprietary too, and that doesn't stop...

... wait a minute... did I already talk about her in another thread today?

Nevermind. You guys know what I mean on this one. :-]

I have an idea. Only buy from those vendors with 30 day return policy without restocking fee and return them until you find the right digicam.
This way, you have the latest camera every month.

Do you really think that you will be a better photographer with the S85 than you are with the S75? Once the camera gets up into the 3mp range, is more really better? It's what you do with the tool that matters.

T.L.

This is a question I've also asked myself. Just when does anyone here actually "shoot" photos?

Is talking about digital photography more interesting than doing it?

Is that possible?

While I'm learning about digital photography here....I'm almost afraid to leave and actually go out and take some pictures.

I could miss something.

I completely agree with jsm. Sure its nice to have the nicest and latest. But I am still stuck with the original 505, i'm not going to upgrade until i've become a good photographer, at the moment none of my work is good enough for my expectations, so i'm concentrating on improving that, rather than complicating things by buying a new camera.

The point is, you can still take amazing photographs with the s75, 505 or whatever, its the subject that should make a photograph not so much the quality of it. imho

Rephrasing the question: who is waiting for the S85 instead of buying S75?

I waited until I saw the S75 in stores (just found it last few days ago). Now I have to make the choice if I want to wait 2 more months (if Sony learned from their previous announcement and really do deliver in August).

Since the price is so close I wonder if Sony would lower the S75 price.
Can't imagine they will sell many S75 after S85 is released.

After only 3-5 weeks it's odd to announce a model that is so close in price (this is very uncommon even in the computer industry). I don't think Sony really planned this schedule (probably the production of the S75 delayed and competitors already announced upcoming 4mp).

Personally I think the CD300 is still a notch above the S75. So that would now put the S75 3rd on the Sony hierarchy, or 2nd if you don't agree that the F505V is still king...but the S75 is hardly obsolete. ;-)

It's only 700,000 pixels. It won't make a difference, unless you want to print larger than 8x10. Trade your s75 in for a G1.
