E-1 with SD Card to CompactFlash Adapter?

Just got a deal on an E-1, and I'm waiting for it's arrival. I'm really looking forward to it.

One question I have is that I have this nice fast SD memory card that I'd like to keep using with the Oly. Can I just get an SD to CompactFlash card adapter and use it with the E-1? Do they fit? Is there a speed hit associated with the use of these?

Any other words of wisdom would also be appreciated.

Scott, you may be in trouble on your wish. Unfortunately the SD adaptor has one inherant problem. the SD card sticks out the top of the adaptor and that won't let you close the door on the E-1. I have not found an answer to solving this faux pax. Thanks, Jim

I think that the adapter is for xD cards and not SD cards.

I believe they're different.

The XD card sits flush when inserted into the CF adaptor so closing the door is not a problem. Jim

If such an adapter exists (one that allows you to close the CF door) you will not see any speed differences by using the SD card. If the main objective is to keep from having to purchase a CF card (since you already have the SD card) then you may benefit from the adapter. But if you desire a faster capture card, the bottleneck is the camera itself and maybe even the CF interface (bus speed), so a faster cord will do you no good.

I am using a EagleTec SD to CF II adapter with my E1. The SD card is totally
immersed inside the adapter.
 
That Minolta SD> CF card adaptor works exactly as you'd hope and expect.

I use a 512 SD card ex a Pentax s4i in the adaptor into my E-10 and also into a CF> PCMCIA adapter into a laptop etc. No trubs. Expensive at c£49 in London. May need ordering.
