D2H and F6 observations

I don't think it's a coincidence that the F6 camera was introduces recently. I believe Nikon was planning to ditch the D2H camera and tried to recoup costs by using the body for the new F6. The F6 really came out of nowhere. Another interesting fact about the sudden Dh2 price drop is that Reuters recently announced by mass emails that it was no longer accepting photos taken by D2H cameras because of excessive noise issues. I hear Nikon was furious about this. No wonder Nikon just wants to clear inventory so quickly. I have a reliable source that informs me of something new (other than D200 and D1X) that will be available in March. I'm guessing one of them is the D2HS but can't figure what the others may be. Maybe the rumored D3.... who knows.

I know people have been upset lately about the recent price drop of the D2H. But I feel Nikon will be making some strides in the coming months. Lets not forget some of the great cameras and lenses they have made in the past. I own a D70, and my brother the D1X. We couldn't be happier. We work these cameras to death. The wireless flash systems is amazing. Something that makes all Canon uses jealous.

Some things to consider when buying Nikon. They're product cycle is much slower than Canon. I can't believe how quickly new products come from them. This essentially makes the slightly older Canon cameras drop considerably in price.

Hang in there Nikonians... our day is coming soon. In the meantime, take some damn photos!

This seems to be a common thought here. The D2h price drop is suggesting to many that up to three new models are about to be released: D2HS, D3, and D200. I hope they're right, but I think it's a bit of a leap.

Would you be saying that if you'd just bought a D2h a couple of weeks ago?

Your post was making reasonable sense up to the last sentence. I am so damned sick of being told to "take some photos". This sentence is the mark of someone who wants to post but has nothing to say.

I can't believe Reuters has said that!

Please try not to sound too 'Ken Rockwellish' as zits might pop onto my face and blur my vision.

It would be nice to see them offer a way to upgrade this model. Though
the 4mb & raw file size is ideal for me.

Exactly my position. I bought mine three weeks ago.

That is false, if Reuters really sent such an Email about the D2H show it, and do include the name of the person in charge who sent this suppose Email.

The F6 really came out of nowhere.
Well, I think the F6 has been in development for many years. The CAM2000 AF module came out of that project as did the current metering technolgy. Personally, I think the F6 was originally started as a film camera, then developed toward an interchangeable back digital/film camera, then scrapped, then released as a film camera since it could be done so cheaply since it's basically the same body as the D2H/D2X and can be built in the same factory. I'm thinking that the F6 was almost an afterthought.

I doubt that that rumor you heard is true, but even so, I think that it's true that Nikon has fully realized that the D2H at 4mp is just too irrelevant to the market (since perception=reality) to keep it in the lineup for its usual and expected life cycle. It makes perfect sense to me that they would go for a mid-cycle upgrade -- the D2HS -- since they could do so without much hardware rearranging and no need to start up a whole new manufacturing line.

I suppose they also sent out a note that Canon 1D images are no longer acceptable - since the Nikon is less noise at high ISO values (although not quite as good at low values).

Logically, if follows that 35mm images taken on Tri-X or similar film must also be outlawed.

Seems to me that is an invented non-fact.....

Well if Reuters did send "mass emails" someone should have a copy of it.
Does anyone have said email?

I have a F6 SLR since two weeks ago.

For those who say that the F6 is a film-reworked D2h, please try a real F6 before you make such uninformed comments.
