I can either get an S2 Pro or a D70 both with 24-120mm VR lens. I am just a student but I LOVE to print big stuff. I shoot a lot of lower light pics and candid portraits are my favorite...

Thanks for the help,

You want the D70 with the 24-85 f/3.5-4.5 AF-S lens, or instead the kit lens.

Sure, with S2 you get the 12mp interpolated picture, which is surprisingly high quality actually, but would I really go for the quite older model without some of the nice features of the D70 (read i-TTL and wireless flash)?

I've printed very successfully 20x30 inch photos from the 6mp that the D70 has to offer.

My vote is for the D70.

"I shoot a lot of lower light pics" would favor the S2. Otherwise I would pick the D70.

Hi!

If you want low light performance and the best image quality, go S2 without hesitation!

The D70 has other features (S2 can only sync to 1/125) but is no match in terms of sheer picture brilliance! The S2 still stands strong at high ISOs, allthough Canon has taken the lead in this field. On the whole I would never trade my S2 for a D70 -> one look at the prints you get from both and you know why.

If you are serious about it, consider the S3 - go to the Fuji SLR forum and have a look at the first samples. The examples of real DR will make you want this baby right away... :)

Regards
Alex
