is this painting with light?

First, thank you to cspringer for all your help with the painting with light technique. I have been following the threads closely trying the technique and I think I have it figured out but I am not getting the results like I have seen here on this forum. Am I in the right direction? Any comments please.

Looks good but I would darken the sky.

You might try making a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer and move the Lightness slider on both the Cyan and Blue...you can change the color with the Hue slider.

Same picture, second try. Used only 10% opacity. Ran the action twice. Didn't paint with light on the clouds but painted shadows on the sky. I think I need to use a smaller brush and take more time around the tree line. Tried hue/saturation but didn't help much. Ended up dropping the saturation down a little and thats it. Any better?
