I am dissapointed with the grip. Having said that, time and again, I am VERY pleased I chose the 20D's.

The image quality is far superior to that of other brands available right now, and anyone who says to the contrary is in denial.

It's not just the amount of pixels, but the quality of pixels that also counts.

Silky smooth... you don't hear that too often anywhere else!

It was that quality which i did not see in either the D100 or the D70 - and it was only by chance I even tried a Rebel. i thought it was like a toy - and then I saw the results and then i bought a 20D. I will get a macro lens for the 20D and a longer lens - and still use the Nikon equipment for the film I shoot - if I do. It's not only the quality, but the freedom to play and experiment - I need to weed out the bad ones or I'll run out of hard disk space or have so many images it will be unmanageable.

moved over from nikon a few months ago after over a decade of shooting nikons. nikon is a great camera maker but canon has just taken over the digital world. like others here i was wooed by the silky noise free images canon produces. have to admitt though either camera is capable of producing teriffic images so either choice is a good choice. not a bad world we live in. is it?

When you can hand hold a camera and get an image this clear in later afternoon light - I'd say it was amazing.

We live in an age of magic and canon has the magic as far as i can see - at least for now. The competition will serve us all well.

But I like the spot metering of the F and D100 and the D80 and D70 - it's like playing a piano and feels like the scenes - I will get used to this.

you have GOT to be kidding me. what is so silky about that image ?? is it because the water is relatively still ? frankly, an downsampled XGA image from decent camera phone could have captured that shot.

and it's an extremely run of the mill shot of a sunset for that matter. neither the composition nor location is anything special -- the trees look particularly bare and horrid, and why is the garbage (?) floating on the water on the bottom left corner included in the shot ?

but with this photo getting 10/10s left right and center, i obviously don't know what i am talking about.

Guess i am kidding - oh well - some people like it - personally - I think it's a pretty unusual view - to each his own. I love the use of the word garbage - very thoughtful indeed

nice range of colors, and range of contrast, also nice and sharp, especially in the central quadrant. Thank you for sharing it!

Agreed on Canon here ..

It's his first post here so he may turn out to be a troll.

It's a beatiful image, IMHO.

Actually, that's not a bad idea. You can post your Nikon equipment on the Fred Miranda or Rob Galbraith forums.

what to do with all my Nikon equipment?
Sell it if you can. Don't expect to get much though-- The used market is glutted with Nikon equipment from the flood of people dumping Nikon equipment to move to Canon. I got subtantially less money than I expected from the few pieces of Nikon equipment I was able to sell, so in the end I kept most of the lenses and my SB26 and SB28 strobes. (I use the strobes in manual mode with umbrellas so they work fine.)

On the bright side, I got a Nikon to EOS lens adapter on Ebay for $30 and can use my 16mm fisheye, 20mm, 85mm 1.8 135mm f2 and 300mm f4 on the 20D. They actually work well in AV mode with manual focus.

I also switched, you better sell your gear quick but don't expect top dollar for it. There is soooo much Nikon gear for sale out there, I didn't get near what I wanted for my D70 kit or my 70-200mm VR lens. Doesn't look like there are many buyers out there. The D70 was a great camera but the images to me looked "digital" especially with the jaggies and moire. The 20D images are so smooth and silky, much more "real" looking.
