I just dropped my c2000z ON ITS LENS! Gingerly picked it up and the extended lens was sticking at about a 10° angle. In panic tried to straighten it by hand - and it did! Popped back into place.

Press the power button, praying everything works fine and the lens DOESN'T retract - panic again!

Try pressing the lens inwards - another CLICK - and now it's working fine!

Talk about scared shite-less!! At least I guess it shows that they're robust! Seems to be working 100% as it did before.

(I've only had this thing for 3 days - bring on the lens armour!)

(for those of you about to say "put the strap round your neck, fool": I picked it up from my desk, neglecting that the serial cable was still plugged in. The unexpected resistance pulled out of my hand - in future always pick up by strap!!!

(panic over)

Brings back distant memories of a brand new Weston Master V and a stone flagged floor. Alas part 2 of your epistle didn't apply in my case!!
