So I just came back from a short vacation (please read no further if you are offended by such trivial posts...)

I won't go as far as to call these photos 'Artistic', so I'll call them 'Artsy'.

What I mean is I zoomed, skewed and moved a lot during the creation of these shots, and than used some unsual ACR conversion techniques pumping color and contrast to a 'pleasing' level.

All shots taken with D2h with either a 70-200 VR or a 12-24 DX, the difference is of course apparent. Most often long shutterspeeds, handheld or tripod supported, ISO usually at 800 or up, sometimes (tripod) as low as 200 which is atypical for me.

So here's a small number of the grand total, taken recently in New York & Washington, I have to thank Janet, RFC, James, Brent, Ron and others for helping me out in the preparation for the trip, I appreciate it a lot!

Guggenheim:

Empire state:

Statue of liberty:

MoMA:

Starbucks:

St Patricks (0.8 seconds handheld!)

Chrysler from ESB:

Washington Monument:

Lincoln at dusk:

Seagull in my shadow:

National Archives:

If you have any questions about any of these feel free to ask, even though this post is just for showing you some photos, if I can help anyone with some information I would be more than happy to. Thanks for watching these :)

Cheers,

Sander,

These are very fine shots. I like every one of them. They are all fantastic. You did well to capture different looks of very familiar sites. What days were you in D.C.? I was there for a week that ended on Tuesday. It would have been fun to meet you there.

Work has kept me busy the last few days, but I got a few interesting shots around the Archives which I'll be posting shortly along with the Capitol and White House areas.

Regards,

Paul

great to have you back on the forum, and of course it was so cool to meet you in NYC and take you to "B&H-world"!

These are great shots, every one. My favorite is the flag (how did you get that effect?) and the one of St. Patrick's. Can't believe that was handheld, the church is sharp as a tack!

hope you'll post some more...!

Hi Gordon,

I sure had a blast in NY, but DC wasn't bad either with all the free museums. Also security in DC was much friendlier in DC, all smiling faces help a lot when you're being bothered about what you're carrying in the big backpack. All in all, not taking the airports into account, I was treated great and had a lovely time :) Glad you liked the pics Gordon.

Unfortunately all shots had people in them, in some cases this was nice and gave the photo a sense of movement and scope, but in a few shots I wished I could have dragged some people from where they where sitting (for over 20 minutes!!). Glad you like the end result, I have a few more Lincoln shots like these which I'll post some time soon. Thanks for taking the time to comment :)
