chip,

It's an accessory lens from from other non-digital cameras Olympus made/makes. I sold mine (used with an IS-3 DLX and other cameras) and Koo22 is reminding me of that moment from time to time with her photos.

Jason,

Since you're in the know, how much magnification does it yield? Something like a TCON14B on top of a TCON-300?

The B300 is 1.7x, the TCON14B is 1.4x....at least I think these are the numbers. Feel free to correct. K.

Yea, for some reason I seem to remember a number of about 700mm or there abouts. The 314b is 609mm, and based on your pic I see some of the same concerns I have with the 314b (see "Shooting the Moon"). Not that these are bad pics, I just think the E-10 is starting to show that it is not a telescope... ;o}

The other thing I would like to ask is specs on your settings. I know you have f-stop of 2.8, but what speed? I was using 1/400 and had to do some work in photoshop to clean it up just a little, did you?

Yes the best pics I've seen of the moon are shot with telescope attachments, and other kinds of specialized equipment that I don't have. I suppose those things are necessary if you're really into "astro-photography". I think 710mm was the number for this combination. And I didn't use a tripod...I tried to handhold this huge setup in a very strange position on the deck (it was actually pretty funny...I really do have to get a decent tripod). K.

Yep, A tripod does help, but I don't think it will make much differance with this pic. I know you are looking at the light weight tripod, mine is well over 5lbs (Slik PRO 700DX). Very stable with all the glass attached.

f3.6, 1/200sec., spot metering...as much as I tried to hold it still, the lens moved because of the weight and me trying to point it upwards. I used a little unsharp mask in photoshop, and cropping. This was the most detail I've got yet, but still not as sharp as I'd like. K.

Hi, Sandy. I use a 49 to 55mm step up ring, that I bought from B&H Photo online. It was about 6.95 if I remember correctly. K.
Here's a shot of the "almost full" moon with the TCON300 plus the
B300 lens. Jaja, should we call this combination the TCON3B?

What size ring did you use to connect the TCON300 to the B300?
Where did you get the ring?

Thanks

Sandy

Hi Karen,

NICE SHOT!!!

I can't wait to get my stepup ring and get my 14b and 300 together for stuff like this! Hopefully sometime later this week.

Vance.
