Hi All,

It is time for my monthly (boring) speech:

Now for this new Event (June Challenge - Shadows) everyone need to create there own new Event (They are called "categories" in the admin area). As an example I did mine so you can have a look what I mean: http://www.e10day.com/cgi-bin/imageFolio.cgi?direct=North_America/Dirk_Koppers

If anything is not clear then please post it here and so I (or hopefully someone else, hint!) can answer the questions.

Login: http://www.e10day.com/cgi-bin/admin2/admin.cgi (new users can choose to setup an account from there). Also note that when you created your account for the first time it will give you your own name as default category, please accept that. Then when you are going to create a subcategory it will give "June Challenge - Shadows" as default.

New users that first want to experiment (hint again) can login with this info (case sensitive):

http://www.e10day.com/cgi-bin/admin2/admin.cgi

Username: BizDesign
Password: if_guest

You are in full control over this account:

http://www.e10day.com/cgi-bin/imageFolio.cgi?direct=North_America/ImageFolio_Guest_Account

Have fun

Dirk

P.S. The challenge goes from 6/10 to 6/24. Please obey that rule!

Not sure if this BUMP is from the road or from my '87, 180 miles, VW Golf

I have a couple of questions regarding the pictures I choose to submit. I've already set up my E10Day.com account and gallery.

First, is there a size or number limit to the picture I upload? E.G., less than a megabyte apiece and 10 or fewer entries?

Second, I'm traveling that last weekend. Do all pictures have to be UPLOADED by 11:59 PM on the 24th or can they be up a day or two later?

Inquiring newbie minds want to know :-))

Many thanks,

Paul

10 images at 1 MB a piece is what most users are uploading. As long as your images were taken within the period then it is okay to upload them a couple of days later (preferable including the EXIF info).

Dirk, thank's for the confirmation. I'm traveling to visit some friends that last weekend of the Challenge. I was all set to take along my USB cable with the E-10 to transfer any last minute pictures to their computer. The longish part would have been uploading using a 56k modem (I have DSL at home).

The request for EXIF info sounds like you want images straight from the camera. I'm not an expert in digital darkroom, but I believe that PSP (and PS, too?) destroys EXIF data when you edit the JPG? Something for me to check waiting for the 11th.

Best,

Paul

PS 6+ keeps the EXIF info!

Anyway, if the EXIF info got destroyed then click on "EXIF info" in the admin area of the e10day.com site. From there you can upload the original images (works only after you have viewed the image at least once). This original image will only be used for the EXIF info.

I use Paint Shop Pro 7.02 (with PS plug-ins) and it DOESN'T keep the EXIF data after editing a JPG.

Thanks for the tip on E10Day.com

Ok, who can help me navigate this thing. I created my category for June Shadows some time ago (and I can even see the category in the gallery). However, now that I'm trying to upload the pictures I can't get to it!

When I log in to the E10day site I get to the "home" admin screen. When I choose "upload media" I get a message that I first must add a category to continue (I thought I did this weeks ago). So I go back to the "home" screen and select "Add Category". On the left side of the screen is a box that has my name in it and on the right side of the screen is a selection box with the different regions (Africa, Asia, Europe, etc). When I select North America and push on the button to "add new category" I get an error message that "The category 'Bruce_Spell' already exists, try using another!" Well, duh but how do I get to it to add my pictures????

Has anyone else seen this or am I just brain dead?

What happend in your case you created two login accounts. You were using the wrong login info to your other (wrong) account. I emailed your correct login info and removed the wrong account from the database.

Well I win!!!

Colour me in frustrated and humiliated - just spent a bewildering 40 plus minutes - on the world's slowest link up too I might add - trying to send in my "masterpiece" for the Shadows challenge -at the instigation of a fellow who will be nameless but not blameless - and I am convinced that I am a total idiot -- sorry folks I just cannot get through -- and I certainly do not relate to the system - perhaps it is a USA thing - and those few other folks from Australia are really expatriate Yanks who have it in their blood.

I logged in - registered - OK - I go to "add a category " and tell it I am in Australia (??) then I try to "add media" but it says I haven't chosen a category - even though there is no option to do so that I can see and the words "June Challenge- Shadows" are typed in the area above the box- I cannot write anything in the box my name appears in and the only option I have is to click a button which reaffirms the fact that I am stupid - is it April 1st?

Oh well David I did try (oops said I wouldn't name and blame anyone :-))

Pity too it is a real masterpiece - - I can safely say that now knowing no one will ever see it

if anyone wants to contact me directly - with pills, medication or offers of a free lobotomy - send messages of condolence to [email protected] - I'll have one more try tonight before midnight -- why can't Ijust email it to David and let him send it on- BTW is there a size limit anything else I should know - I resized to 600 by 800 pixels as I assumed full size was a no-no but this may still be too large??? Remeber I am an old guy who has steadfastly gone through life hating to read instructions and manuals etc. such things are abbhorrent to me (even if I cannot spell it!)
