I met up with one of my favorite d70 forum mates for coffee and camera talk this morning. It's always a delight visiting with Philippe Roger, and an added treat when he brings along his beautiful puppy, Belle.

Belle's quite a handfull. First thing she did was jump up to say "hi", knocking over both of our cups of coffee. But she's only a puppy, and it's impossible to react with anything other than a smile to her enthusiasm.

I tried to walk her, so Philippe could try out my new lens, but Belle thought I was inviting her to a tug-of-war. She's only 60 pounds, but I can assure you that it's all muscle.

Yes, she's a rowdy puppy, but only with adjults. She loves kids, and realizes that she has to be gentle with them. The first thing she did whenever a little person approached her was lie down and try to lick.

All in all, I have to applaud the way Philippe is raising Belle. She's a perfect lady... except when it comes to leashes.

Hi Frank,

It was nice to hook up with you too. The little chat at the coffee house allowed Belle to be formally introduced to Clyde, the beautiful Labrador/Golden Retriever mix that you showed us here earlier.

"hi", knocking over both of our cups of coffee. But she's only a

Hey, watch out now: she can be a good girl too. Just like this...

I tried to walk her,
You sure did, and she didn't mind one bit. The weather and scenery were just perfect.

Belle thought I was inviting her to a tug-of-war. She's only 60
pounds, but I can assure you that it's all muscle.
So, did you win? It looks like you tamed her, in the end, no?

... so Philippe could try out my new lens...
You know, I really like your set-up with the monopod a lot. I have to get me one of them things. It makes hand-holding the big zoom that much easier! :-)

She does that with other dogs too (sorry, no pic). For some reason, she tends to compete, such as with the tug-of-war, with male adults (eg. you and me), but not anyone else. I still have to figure this out...

Good one, Frank! Thanks, you're too kind. There is still quite a bit of work before she can be let loose of the leash...

I had a Chesapeake Bay retriever named Belle and she grinned JUST like that. We had to put her down a couple years ago because she was very sick, but thanks for bringing back some happy memories of the best dog ever. :)

Nice story, and nice puppy!

Great shots, she reminds me of my golden when she was young. They are the best dogs around kids, ours grew up with our Taffy. She was almost 15 years old when she passed on last march but I still think about her everyday. She was my best friend.

Thanks again for those great shots.

I forgot to mention that the pics in my post were all taken with
the D70 and a 50mm f/1.4... and a bit of foot zoom! :-)

I'm glad it brought back good memories for you, Adria. These furry critters sure steal our hearts, don't they.

Glad to bring back some nice memories. We are becoming very, very attached to Belle as well. She's so sweet, despite her puppy energy. I know what you mean about losing a furry best friend...

Take care,
Philippe

Very nice shots, Uncle Frank. I really enjoyed them. Amazing how dogs are with kids. They seem to have a protective instinct toward them. The photos are great. Happy Hollidays.

buttons do :-)

Got mine back around February - March time? I don't remember exactly but I think is acurate. Enjoying the heck out of it with the Kit Lens and the 50mm 1.8D only. Looking forward to wide angles 12-24 and 10.5 and something like 70-300 or 70-200 VR (if I can afford it)

Have been away from NTF far too long. I still use my CP5700, 995, and 950's but don't post as much from them.

lately I have been living in here LOL

Good to hear from you.
