They are right, the picture was taken with a 400mm lens, with the crop of the Nikon it was like a 600mm lens

Bunt ist das Leben und Granatenstark.
Volle Kanne Hoshi's!

It's no longer interesting to hear news you've already heard a lot of times.
A link to a 2.5 gigapixel picture was posted a week ago here:

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1000&message=11087567

Later, posts telling of 1 gigapixel pictures like this one came out:
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1000&message=11128197

I won't be surprised if later I see posts telling about 12-megapixel or even 300-kilopixel pictures. ;-)

No they are not.

Stitch together all those images and you get a photo like taken with a 20mm lens... (in terms of Field-Of-View)

Actually his shoots large format sheet film and then it is scanned.
I remember reading somewhere that they stuck together a hundred or
so computers together to make a super computer.

Looks like the gigapixel photographer will need the supercomputer
to process the image from RAW to a JPG.
