I was in Hong Kong for the first time last week. What an amazing city! Captured this with my 1Ds and Sigma 50-500. Merged two photos, one exposed for the moon and one exposed for the city. At the time I wished it was a full moon, but the more I consider the half moon, the more I like it in this image. Taken from the Star Ferry dock in Kowloon. f/8, 4sec for the city. f/8 1/30sec for the moon.

Of course. Why wouldn't it be? Its still right up top amongst the top few, and will be for a long time.

Nice image. I have also been on the Star Ferry dock looking across at Hong Kong--amazing sight and city. I'm expecting my new-used 1DS next week and can't wait to see what it can do.

Wait how can the 1Ds be a fine camera if there is something newer:)-

And you use that camera very well. Awesome shot.

Mequon,

My recommendation for best performance is get a sturdy tripod and a cable release! Have fun!

Sfainbraun,

Indeed, I am just window shopping right now. The problem is that if I wait too long to get a 1Ds II, then there will be a 1Ds III in the pipeline. That's the trouble with cameras going digital, the sky is the limit!

Hey Charles,

Funny you mention that, I've been more of a hand-holding guy so I will indeed need to acquire a good tridpod and accessories to make best use of the 1DS for landscapes. Any recommendations?

Best way to go is a lightweight but sturdy composite material one. Make sure it is not flimsy though. Plus a ball-head is a must so you can get the exact adjustments. I have Hakuba HG-503MX tripod and a Manfrotto 488 RCO ball head.

Perhaps spend more time on the concept then the nuts and bolts will line up like magic.

Charles, that's a great shot, and agree with you. In fact I find the 1Ds gets better as I get to know it better...

Cheers
Ian
