G6 Ebay auction - too good to be true?

A similar scam was to collect the money but fail two deliver the goods, they hold out sending until the 30 day insurance with paypal is up and disappear with all the money !

I've dropped him an email to see if buyers can meet up with him in
his hometown to collect the camera and test it out, this is the
ONLY way i would buy from this guy.. Lets see what he says. 10 of
his positive feedback is empty green bottles at 0.99 a go, could he
have been busy buying to get high feedback? :) Proceed with
caution.
Got response back from the seller. He was not interested in letting anybody meet up to collect the camera.. ALARM BELLS I cant not believe that somebody has ordered 4 items.. Buying 1 from him is bad enough, let alone gambling and buy 4 at the same time.

Well, he's 'sold' 39 over the past 2 day's, I'm sure we'll be
seeing feedback for him very very soon- good or bad- especially as
he's supposedly using a courier service.
I think the catch is in the courier service. They don't specify explicitly which one they're using, so the buyer has no way of tracking the item.

I'm tempted to buy but as sceptical as everyone else. But sometimes genuine bargains do crop up....don't they? Well, I asked a couple of questions via eBay - the seller didn't make the response public, but I am :)

Thoughts?

Hi. Feedback and photos please! Why don't have any feedback from buyers? Can you supply testimonials? Also, could you post a photo of your 99 boxes in stock? Unfortunately scammers have eroded the trust in eBayers, but by doing this I think you'll get a better uptake. Thanks.

That would be because (as I put in the listing) I have never sold on EBay before - only bought. As for your request for a photo of the 99boxes - if you are that nervous simply do not buy. We are now down to 58 items and I would rather send these to easy sales than run around to convince people that someone with 2years and 55positive score would jeopardise his EBay reputation by ripping people off.

So in Short; "I havent got the boxes, so unable to take picture". ;-)

Wow, his ebay reputation was so hard to achieve! ;) Nobody can buy 55 cheap positives! Oh, wait.

Possibly. Or maybe he just sees them flying off the shelf from 'easy' buyers and doesn't want the hassle.

I was thinking - you get PayPal buyer protection on this - up to £120 minus £15 admin fee. So the risk you'd be taking is effectively about £88.

I unearthed this post by the seller from an ebay forum - it might say something about him.

I'm including it as a whole so that it's not taken out of context:

Well - lets try and make this constructive if I can.

I have a good record for fast payment and always try to post to those that I have bought from that deliver what they promise.

I am now subject to negative feedback from a seller who has sold me a watch without the box featured - he refuses to answer emails - refuses to co-operate with a mediator (which cost me $20) and I have no recourse to remove the malicious posting that he has made.

Want my tips for feedback? Don't put too much faith in it folks... it is open to bad sellers (and no doubt buyers) to abuse and create a false impression about you. Its a cryin' shame that the minority spoil it for the majority and even more of a shame that Ebay seem entirely disinterested.

THIS IS YOUR FEEDBACK TOOL FOR YOUR COMMUNITY TO USE - help the majority of us ebayers by policing the feedback.

A general disclaimer that says feedback cannot be changed is simply not accepting YOUR responsibility to US, your customers.
So - in simple terms - help us to help you.... it makes sense?

Had the seller remained present, I would want to know the country of "origin" of the cameras in order to know where the warranty applies.

Well, rather than watch folks discuss it here then watch somebody go and potentially blow a pile of money, I fired off an email to Ebay earlier today simply quoting them the item number and the URL of this thread......and left it to them to decide/action.
Ian.

PS. Sorry for the possible repeat post...got problems with browser today!.
