Help help help!! I am about to loose my mind. I take TONS of pictures on a daily basis. I love the EASE of popping my xD Olympus card into my reader. Lately my card reader has been acting up (Dazzle) and yesterday it would not work on ANY USB port on my DELL (running XP). So I go out last night and purchase a San Disk card reader. Plug it in to my USB - fine- it recognizes it (at least I know now that my USB ports are not bad-like I originally feared) but will NOT read the xD card. So, since its a reader that reads SD and xD, I put the SD card in, fine it works and reads. Ohkay. Next I pull out the laptop, same thing, SD reads, xD no. Try the kids computer, same thing. Borrow another card reader from a friend, my card is NOT reading. So I think, maybe its the card? I have 3 other cards, and borrow one from the daughter, not reading on either computer, and any of the card readers. This is making me crazy!!!! So, I figure the card readers are OKAY, (hopefully) my Dell is okay. But, these cards are not reading!!! So, where should I start? Write Olympus, write San Disk? Loose all my marbles and through my fairly new C-765 as far as I can? ( but I do love thjis camera) I almost went out and bought a new photoprinter last nite, since my HP7350 does not have the slot for a xD.

Thanks for any guidance ANYONE has. If you can direct me to the place, I might be able to figure this out I will be eternally grateful!!

If no xD cards works in any card reader on any computer, then I'd say that the cam does not write the data to the cards properly...
Can you view the pictures in cam?

If not you better have olympus straight it out for you...

I have 2 cameras here that use xD. I will try with the other one and see
if it works.
Thanks.

It sounds like a power supply problem.

Every USB device needs power. It either has an own power connector or it gets the power over the USB cable, which may be more limited on a laptop than on a desktop.

You might check to insert an USB hub with an external power supply between the computer and the card reader.

Of course, it is difficult to well diagnose your problem from here.

Things to try:

1. Are the card(s) still readable in the camera?
2. Can you connect the camera to the PC and read the cards that way?

If 1 & 2 work, I'd suggest pulling off all the images and then reformatting the cards in the camera.

Also, make sure the contacts on the cards are clean.

Wow! You guys are the most. I plugged my camera into the laptop, presto it worked. On to the Dell. ( where I relly want these pictures to be) and YES!!! it read the card off of the camera. Makes me wonder why I ever bought a card reader, since this is just as easy. So. 1. the camera is okay and the Dell is ok. I am at a loss WHY the Smart media cards work in the card reader, and the xD cards do not. I will be taking a trip to Curcuit City this AM and returning the card reader though.

I can not thank you enough for your help!! This forum is priceless!!!
Have a great day!!!

I just want to say one more thing to anyone that reads this Olympus Forum--- I am on my 5th Olympus camera and one of the MAIN reasons that I stick with Olympus is that I KNOW when I have a question or a problem or simply need to find out "something more" I can look it up on this forum, ask and receive help and this is just priceless. Thanks to all once again.
