Ok, I'm very new to this DSLR stuff, and trying to learn more, my wife (JoanaR) and I are shooting pics at every opportunity. So we went to the local zoo, and thought a self portrait would be cute. We thought we could incorporate some really cool backgrounds.

We set the camera on the tripod, ran in front of the camera, posed, and used the wireless remote to take the pic. Here is what came out of the camera. :)

Well, that's me on the left, but my wife looks nothing at all like the beauty on the right. So we tried again. This is what we got the second time. :)

The lighting must have been different, the colors are so far off between the images :-P

Nice pictures. You are clearly going to enjoy your new D70. I must say, mine is one of the best investments I've ever made.

I also have a self portrait I took recently. The picture is actually rather flattering, I don't look that good in real life!

I love curves on my wife, the road and my D70.
Cheers!

What lense(s) did you use on these shots?

What lense(s) did you use on these shots?
We used the Nikkor AF 70-300 G. Actually, to be truthful my wife did the shooting, I just did some PP. I am going to have to go buy a second D70 in order for me to get to take any pics. I am really pleased with the lens for things like the zoo, where I don't have to worry too much about speed.

One thing that I know for sure, I'm not going to pose or standing in front of your camera, I don't know what I'm gonna look like after that :-D
by the way, nice pictures
thanks for sharing wiht us

BobKR,

Looks like this camera is making a monkey out of my wife and I also... ;> )

Very nice shots, that 70-300G is a very capable lens when used with good technique...I love mine especially since I only paid $99 for it and it's so light weight and small and gives me great results...

I took this one with a borrowed sigma 170-500mm...wouldn't want to carry this lens around every day that's for sure...

That's me on the right... ;> )

... is that the lens must be turned towards you, not the lcd panel (that's the back of the camera !)

Easy mistake to do for somebody who is new to dSLRs !

Hmmmm ! You're very lucky, getting such beautiful pics and great composition with that set-up !

On second thought, don't change your techniques a bit !

Thanks for the smile,
Thierry

What did you do for Contrast and Such? Did you use a Custom Curve?

JoanaR looks a bit upset.......maybe you should have purchased a Canon

Nothing personal here but she needs to wax!

.... easily - I gotta scratch her all day long.
Speaking of animals, if Kelly reads your post, you're going to be sleeping in the doghouse.

She seems to be letting you post more these days. Bet that cost you :-).

Your right about the waxing. Actually it is strange she didn't...she is from Brazil and they really believe in waxing down there! It's something to do with their swimwear.
