Another shot from my Bahamas vacation :)

I couldn't help but see that surrounding all of the most lovely areas, there was always a considerable stretch of barbed wire woven through the vegetation. I heard that there used to be a considerable crime (mostly burglaries) in the tourist areas, but things were much better in recent years. The remnants of these barriers seems like such an odd contrast to the serene beauty of the area. This is an IR image taken near where I stayed. You get extra points for locating the snail :)

The color contrast between the white post and the background really goes together. IR gives a Black/white look like nothing else. I also like the very shallow DOF. Nicely done. Snail-lower left. :]

Two snails. One at lower left and one where barbed wire intersects twig.

Cheers,

You might say the need for such barbed wire would be "Paradise Lost" but if they've got things cleaned up, Paradise is found again!

Excellent study in contrast between the post, wire, and vines, Sue. Only an artist's eye would notice this.

Which side of the fence are you on...you know I'm kidding

Very, very nice,
David

Thanks! I was happy with this one... sometimes IR turns the ordinary into something really unusual.

believe it or not, I tried the Nikon with the R72 (just holding it in front), and it makes bright lavendar IR shots. If there was a way to attach the lens, it might make some interesting ones. It was much more sensitive than most digicams made now. Nothing beats the UZI at it though... you get to actually see it in the evf as it will appear.
Glad you liked the shot :)

y'know, I'm a pain in the butt to travel with, since I'm always looking at weird stuff like this that baffles non-photographers. Thanks for commenting!

It's at the bottom left. Do I win anything? :)

Great composition and I love the IR treatment.

I just use an R72 (hoya) filter, but you should search the forums to be sure that this model is IR sensitive before investing in one. With some cameras, you need to use a tripod and long shutter speeds because they are less sensitive, iothers are not sensitive at all. The UZI allows you to take IR shots just like any other shots, handheld, with no special settings other than using the filter (although bright sunlight makes for better images)

I have heard that you can test sensitivity by using a TV remote and aiming it at the lens while viewing the evf to see if you can see the infrared light from it.
Good job finding the snails!

somewhere near the upper middle, look for it's shadow.
Thanks for the complement on the image!

So, how are you getting along, other than wrestling with the dpreview password hassle?

very symbolic and your title is very apt. I guess it depends on whether you are on the inside looking out or the outside looking in. Love the simplicity of the shot and the lighting.
