I also have the camera and it is wonderfull to use but I use IMatch for organization of file and the lastest verison doesn't see the new file format of the D7(MRW) also Photoshop 7 can't see them either.

Anyone else have this problem or can someone who has Imatch check this out for me to see if it is just my problem.
The file are not bad because the viewer that came with the camera sees them

Thanks

I doubt that it (Camera RAW) will work with Photoshop 7. You might have to upgrade.

According to Michael Reichmann at Luminous Landscape the next
version of Camera RAW (free download from Adobe) for Photoshop will
support it. It's mentioned in his review of the 7D.

MRW already has support dor the 7D (not complete yet) and works with PS7. I believe also Dalifer (a shell extender ) has support

or ask Marip Westhphal himself at [email protected]

By the way: I assume you are talking about the 7D, and not the D7...

Just for information, I tried out IMatch a while back. At the time, it seemed interesting, but it couldn't deal with the RAW files produced by my A1.

When I asked Marip about this, he was (understandably) a little testy about my request. His point was that each camera manufacturer not only has their own unique RAW data format, but regularly change it with each new model.

I don't know if other manufacturers are more open, but at the time Minolta wouldn't provide him with any data specs, so he had to reverse engineer it himself. My guess is that you may need to "nudge" him as Geir suggested and it may be a month or so. Why not offer to send him an example file (plus equivalent JPG) so he can start work?

Finally, how are you finding IMatch now you've had it a while? I never took the plunge but know I've got to do it sometime!

What software did you get with the 7D? The Dimage Viewer software included with the A2 works for RAW files in the A2. I know that can't read 7D RAW but you must have received some kind of software with it? Is it possible they ship a camera without software to read the files the camera writes? Humbug!

Yes it is eintirely possible and that is precisely what KM did...aauuggghhh! They shipped software that can't read the 7D's rax files.

I am a competent hobbyist PS user (7.01 Mac version) and I could not find a plug in capable of reading raw files. Maybe graphic converter wil work but I did not try since I don'thave a current version.

I am not anxious to spend $600 to upgrade to CS so I am on the prowel for a plug in that will work with my version. I suspect it will take a while before one appears.

I also went looking for Dimage Master, thinking if it was cheap enough I could use it to manage or convert raw files to an uncompressed format readable in PS. Has anyone looked for the product? I did and could not find anything but a KM press release saying it was released in September. The KM site is mum on the product...save the press release.

When I saw the KM rep and my local camera store and asked about it he gave me some literature but said he was mystified about how to try it out or whether it would even see the 7d's raw files.

I am a committed Minolta user and showed it by buying the 7D but the company is really ham handed when it comes to its markering and customer support. I hope they get their marketing act together soon.

I just came from the KM website and read the blurb on the Dimage Master software. They say right off it is optional for the 7D. True, September was the announcement, not a release date, it is not yet offered for sale. It is not included with the 7D either. Not a word on availability and is not offered for direct purchase from the Km website.

Hi Norm, you may have seen other people mention Dalibor's RAW tools. I have these and they seem to work ok. He's already working on this - please check out this thread:
http://www.dalibor.cz/support/viewtopic.php?t=164&highlight=7d

Near the bottom, he mentions:
I have received two 7D raw samples from one friend
The best news is that the mrw format was changed only slightly and
that I am able to open 7D .mrw files!
