I am having problems with printing... The prints come ouut much darker than what I see on my monitor..... The image on the monitor screen looks great...

In orer to get an acceptable print, I must duplicate the image layer, screen top layer, fade 40 % and then print to get any soet of acceptable print.

I have Photoshop (PS) 6.0, Epson 1160 printer..... and use adobe gamma to calibrate my Hitachi 812 monitor..

PS 6.0 is set to Adobe RGB 1998, Gray Gamma 2.2.

Epson 1160 printer settings set to: Custom, Advanced, No Color Adjustment, High Speed Off, Photo 1440.

What I see on the monitor is not what I get when I print. Most of the time the print is much much darker than what my monitor is showing.....

Does any one out there have any advice as to what I should set my PS color space to and what should I put my Epson 1160 print settings to?

Any suggestions will be appreciated......

Did you uncheck the Printer Color Management box in the Print dialog box?

Corel products are the best for colour accurate prints since they incorporate PS driver for non PS printers so the colours come out virtually the same, providing monitor profile is installed.

I use WIZYWIG from Praxisoft to build a custom profile for my printer. My prints are right on the money. It is worth the $75. There are others that are a bit more expensive and the best way is to buy a "spider" that will calibrate your monitor and build the printer profile. These are a bit pricey, around $300

I check the box that states "No Color Adjustment"! This option is in the CUSTOM set up for the printer....

Is this what you mean by "uncheck Printer Color Management box?

Thanks,

jim

Jim,

Upon second reading, I noticed you're using Photoshop 6.0, it might be different than 5.0 which is what I'm using.

Some good places to go for info on calibrating printers:

http://www.computer-darkroom.com

Hope this helps more than my previous post.
