With a 3000z the 2048x1536 HQ mode and the 1280x960 HIGH creates the same size file - around 750K, 84 pictures for 64MB of memory.

Question: which yields a better picture for a 5x7 or 8x10? Is higher resolution (i.e. 2049x1536) with more compression better (11:1) than lower resolution image (1280x960) with less compression (4:1).

Thanks!!

Without hesitation I would go with more pixels. I have a C3030Z and have used the high compression 2049x1536 to print 8x10's and they look fine to my eyes. Having had a D450Z with 1280x960 I would say that in 'pure' photographic form you would not really want to go over 5x7. I have done 8x10's from that resolution, but only of highly manipulated images (pastel or watercolor effects, etc.).
