Thinking of buying a mark2 but I remember there used to be a problem with really saturated red showing as pink. Has this problem been addressed or corrected yet?

It manifest itself in jpgs from memory...

never seen it myself, and my RAW workflow zaps any poor colour anyway....

problem? maybe, but not for all....

I still get it, so I have to upderexpose things where I see a possiable problem OR I just shoot RAW... Adobe RGB jpegs seem to have less of the magenta problem..

No red problems here. And I was especially concerned about it coming from a 1D.

--I have had no problems with reds on the 1D MKII. must only aply
to some models.

Some early owners complained of jpgs of sports teams in red uniforms. RAW solves the problem, but those folks like the speed of workflow with jpgs.

I Always use Raw and there is no red problem there. But I tried the jpg once on soccer playuer with red shorts. The red was very overexposed and I had to fix them in Photoshop. Havent seen any "fix" for this problem.
The pcitures also was not up to the quality I get from jpg using C1 and Raw...

I dont use JPG with my 1D2 anymore. It dont give me good enough sharpnes, resolution and colors.

While I always shoot raw, I also collect a small JPEG for quick review and sort. I've shot a lot of red objects in vasious lighting situations and I have even tried to overexpose on purpose. I just can't replicate the same types of problems as those posted here. So, I've given up and moved on to other problems like: how can I justify a 1Ds MKII? ;-)

Those who haven't seen it should shoot some red roses in fairly bright light using jpg, that is when I see it most often. I shoot RAW 99.9% of the time so its not a problem for me. The 20D does it too, someone once explained the technical reason why reds are the first color to do this. Canon should be able to fix it...should that is...

In your experience, does the problem with red in jpegs go away if you shoot in Adobe color space?

I have always used raw on my 10D, looks like the 1dmark2 should fit me just fine. Thanks

I have a daughter with red and white soccer uniforms. If I shoot portrait mode (color 2) the reds blow out, if I shoot hi sats levels 3 or 5 (IIRC) they blow out. If shoot aRGB or level 1 they are ok. Not great though. I tried -.3 EV and even -.66 EV but nothing seems to work flawlessly except shooting raw and using ACR or DPP or any after market raw processor.

I have not gotten around to doing a Curve adjustment, I am sure that one would get acceptable out of camera jpgs.

PS just got the MKII, very recent vintage.

I'm approaching 20,000 frames on my 1D2 and have not had "the red" problem even when shooting red football jerseys. I have had a few examples of blue daylight reflection off the highlights of a red jersey which I also used to get with film and my 1D and my D30. All examples I have seen here of "the red" problem were similar circumstances. In other words, when you hit saturation of anything red with high K light, you're gonna see some blue no matter what the detection media is.
