Which of this two will be better for a newbie at DSLR cams that eventually wants to be a wedding photographer?

PS, I know that there are others newer model DSLR Pro cams out there but I only have enough $$$ to buy a used E-10 or E-20(or similar DSLR cams within that price range).

E-10 or E-20?

any comments is welcome, thanks.

I can't comment on the E20, but I sure enjoy my E10. I'm sure there are people here that will help, the E20 does things that the E10 can't and I beleive the E10 has faster write time that the E20. Botton line is that they are both great camera's for the money.

Once again, I agree with Larry!
I'm an E-10 owner (I have 2) and love these cameras.

While the E-20 does offer 5mp as opposed to the 4mp E-10, the difference, IMHO, is negligible. I purchased my first E-10 when the E-20 was available. I'd read about the advantages of the E-20 and didn't really see a lot of difference. I would never use the Progressive Scan mode, as an example and, at the time the E-20 cost significantly more.

A couple of suggestions, if I may. If you can find and afford the Lipo, get it! The additional power and the interval between recharges are impressive. When I attached the Lipo to my E-10 it gave me the 2nd half of the camera. Also, look for a deal on the FL-40. A great flash!

The E-xx cameras are slow and that's not a bad thing. Years ago weddings were shot with very slow operating MF and LF cameras. The E-xxs tend to make you slow down and think about what you're shooting rather than firing off machine gun like shots to capture a single image.

I've shot weddings, sports, and other action stuff with my E-10s and no one has been disappointed.

After you own one, take the time to learn the strengths and weaknesses of the camera and you'll learn to be a successful shooter whether you get the E-10 or the E-20. Both are fine cameras with exceptional glass.
Good luck, and if you have any further questions, my e-mail is in my profile.

If you can visualize it, then create it in the camera, finish it off with the print that matches your mind's eye then you are, most likely, a master...

Both cameras offer good performance. I have an E-10 as one of my cameras and it was purely on a price reason. Both have lenses that are outstanding. They are not fast writers to the CF card, but they are workable.

They may be a little bit slow for fast wedding photography and you willl have to learn to overcome such. But imagery they are very nice. Don't expect Canon 1Ds images esp. large prints, but smaller sized images will impress.

I suggest that you learn to use either camera well before you try weddings. I suggest you learn how to handle wedding photography workflows.

But these cameras are built tough as any, are versatile and are good values even if they are long in the tooth. If you can afford to buy the E-20 then why not, but in any case buy a good conditoned one E-10 or E-20.

They still are, medium format anyway. Shot most of one that way last Saturday. The rest, much of the ceremony and some candids I shot with my E-1.

Just curious, but what makes you want to become a wedding photographer?

Having owned both an E-10 and E-20 I would say buy wihich every is the best deal. I used them for wedding photography as well and the E-20 is still used as backup and 2nd shooter.

Good luck

How much money do you have?

I've owned both, both were excellent. The E20 had the option of a very high shutter speed (at reduced resolution), and pixel mapping, but then again, E20's on ebay tend to bring quite a bit more than E10's. Not just for the slightly better features, but because they tend to be newer.

they sell refurbed with 90 day warranty and an additional 2 years for $89, -also I asked (had to call) and they do replace shutter when they refurbish the E10. (I've only seen E-10's available) - I paid 530 for mine - now just waiting (im)patiently for it to reach me.
