Just wondering about something now that ISO performance has gotten so good with the latest digital models. We have P, Tv, Av, M, Adep modes on our cameras, what about an Miso (no not the soup) mode that works like M mode (adjustable shutter & aperature) and the ISO varies based on in camera metering? I figure this might be pretty useful to those who do alot of low light/no flash shooting at events etc.

... although it takes almost zero time to do this yourself. I don't mind rotating the dials! But ... Chuck Westfall of Canon says there could perhaps be a delay as the camera 'sets up' for the new ISO, however.

I don't believe in fate, but I do believe in f/8!

Well yah we can always rotate dials, but it's not the easiest to switch ISO on my 1D when I need to make a quick adjustment (two buttons, plus dial, plus pull my eyes away from viewfinder). In a situation with wide variety in light, it would be nicer to set your shutter speed for effect or limit came, set your aperature for the DOF you'd like to have, and let the camera do the metering via ISO. Wonder what the 'delay' could be, I figure it's just a gain adjustment right? Anyway I'll send you that shot I grabbed while you were spinning dials Ken ;)

Coming from the Nikon D2H I really liked the auto-iso option. Before the D2H I actually never used it but it came in very handy.

... I change ISO so much that I can do it without looking! I have the viewfinder set up to show the ISO (it is an option that many don't know about!) and I can [now] easily hit the two ISO buttons at once ... with a single finger.

Try it ... like an awkward chord on the guitar, it is clumsy at first, then becomes second nature.

Hmmm ISO bar chords, I like it! :) I have to go back and study my manual, absolutely did not know you could display ISO in the viewfinder. It's little tips like this that really work for me, thanks Ken.

I think there should be a "hand held" mode, as well. The camera would keep the shutter at or above your focal length (200mm at 1/200 sec.) and adjust the aperture or ISO.

These things don't exist??

I don't own any of these fancy DSLRs, I'm still with my Pentax 67II, but I thought that both of these features, auto ISO and a 1/focal length shutter function would exist.

The Canons allow custom functions -- can't this functionality be programmed?

It would be nice if Canon had a programming API, allowing tech-savvy photographers to program such functions into these "custom functions" themselves...
