As a current owner of the 1D Mark II, I am about 98% sold on the idea of selling it (only 3 months old) for the new 1Ds Mark II - My only concern other than losing 4 fps is wondering if the new 1ds will have the same low light and ISO capabilities as the Mark II - Shooting in low light is the key to my photography! What are your thoughts?

I just think the pricing is a bit high on the 1Ds Mk II. It has some potentially stiff compition in the ZD and D2X.

I don't think there's anything solid out there that I can cite to make
my point, but just guessing, I fully expect that the new 1Ds will
have the same low light capabilities as the 1D Mark II. Or at least very
darn close to it. I would be very surprised if it ends up being anything
other than that.

Canon has figured out a whole bunch of new advances to give the
1D Mark II the low light capabilities it has. The new 1Ds will have
those same advances in it. That's the basis of my guess.

Considering the 20D has the same noise as the Mark II, even though the Mark II chip is bigger is amazing.. Canon has said in the 20D they use a better NR algorith them used in the Mark II, but since the sensor is smaller it comes out to be very close.. I am sure the 1dsII will have AT LEAST the same noise floor as the 1dII

Very simple, because it is a cam one year younger. If you sse the 20D which more or less has the same low light performance then the 1DMKII though it's small pixels, you can expect a further step forward at the next generation.
