Shoot I should have asked this sooner, can I get a quick response here. Is there any precautions I need to take for taking my D70 (1gb CF card) and 3 lenses on a flight tomorrow.

I'm an Airline Pilot, No. Just make sure it is all in the bag you want to carry-on of course and that it will fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you. Make sure you don't have any sharp tools that might could be used as weapons. That's about it........Have fun!

No problem, but since the terrorist action in Russia, security has been tighten up. Prepare yourself, because they will take the front and back caps off each of your lenses and peer though them to see if anything is amiss. fortunately, they didn't take the lens off my camera, but they did handle it quite a bit.

Make sure your CF card is uploaded to your computer or a friend's computer and you should be fine. Plan on some extra time getting through security. I always seem to get the full "Spread 'em, Dano" treatment including removal of shoes and lots of wanding when I travel with my heavy bag full of video, audio, and photo gear. They have been very respectful of the equipment, just swiping the bag with cloths for the most part. I've never lost an image or a tape and I regularly send them through the X-ray.

you never know, i had my camera in my carry on coming back from a shoot in another state when one of the worst storms occurred and hailed in causing all flights to be shut down. luckly i have some vr lenses too do some slow night shots of the hailed in airport. evryone eles was using their camera phones or p and s to flash thru the window.

Can't the lenses be used as blunt weapons?

:)

I am also pilot on the B757 and 767. I will be buying a D70. Any suggestions on options or accessories. I take many photos while flying.

I've just got back from Vegas (from the UK), first trip with D70. I stowed my D70, 2 lenses & SB800 in my Lowpro backpack in the overhead compartment as it wouldn't fit under seat, with no i'll affects at all. I had my laptop with me too & had the photo's I took on the HDD & also burnt to DVD as a precaution, this was under the seat.....No problems with this also.
