I ve tried both of them and can t decide if the advantage of the lens of Pro90 (and its better grip) justify the extra cash...for me. I d like to hear from owners who have used these two models and who can tell me if i go wrong with the G1.
Thanks!

I find that the combo of 10X and image stabilization has resulted in me taking way more pictures. Mainly this is due to me being ABLE to take many more. Before, with only a 2X zoom on my digicam, there were many photos that I just didn't even bother to take. Now practically nothing is out of my reach! I fit all my photos from 2000 on one CD (just barely). It looks like I'll need a CD just for APRIL of 2001!!!

Me too -- I've already burned 1 CD and need to burn a second one.. I got my Pro90 in mid-March.

I have to agree with Gary -- THe more I use it the more I like it. At least outdoors. I've not had good luck shooting indoors yet.

I own both and I wouldn't give up either one.

The Pro90 has it's zoom lag and shutter lag problem which can be worked around and creates no problem for me anymore. The Pro90 is also more versatile with the 10X. I use the G1 for scene shots, with the wide angle lens and for indoor shots where the 10X vs 3X zoom is not a factor, due to it's higher megapixel rating. Any other shots and the 90 becomes weapon of choice, thought it can handle the shots I use G1 for. Both are capabile of beautiful pictures. You need to decide to what degree you will need the extra zoom, if at all. After using a Nikon Coolpix 950, I felt limited by the 3x zoom and thus the Pro90. The G1 was bought as a sister (backup), in case of camera failure on one, but is an equal now. No problems with either, happy to say.

After a couple of months of research I picked the pro90. Used it for 10 days and returned it for G1 ;-(

for ME:

The pro90 was bulky, heavy, but most importantly, it is not a great indoor camera. I loved the 10x lens, and took some amazing shots with it.

When used with it's internal flash, indoors, you CAN notice the loss of quality in the corners!! Also there is basically no macro capabilities.

So, I got the G1:
I like the size. With Lensmate attached it looks very retro ;-)

Pictures are sharp Edge-to-Edge. Has macro mode. With the difference in price I got the 420EX external flash. And, I have taken many GREAT shots with G1.

Again, I take a lot more indoor shots, so the G1 is a better fit for me.
