Does the write speed on CF cards make a difference if I want to get the full 5fps burst rate on my 20D camera?

also (indoor shooting ramp skaters) there is a lag time between when I depress the shutter button and the actuall shot being taken - is this due to slow autofocus?

thanks

No, that is a function of the buffer and camera. How many pictures you can get into the buffer and how fast it clears is a function of the CF card speed. There are lots of places that have Sandisk Ultra II 1 gig cards in the $100US price range.

Its actually pretty fast autofocus, but it does take time, unless you prefocus. You can also set the mode to 'shoot priority' where it will shoot whether in focus or not.

You want speed, then get the Sandisk Ultra II card and use USM lenses.
