Hi all,

A strangely familiar image, bringing with it distant memories of boyhood springs, when we all saw ourselves as "big leaguers" Curt A. 505v

How you got focus is a different subject. Nice one ! And you may need a hood ?

Hi Zion and Pondria,

Thanks for the nice comments. Far from a perfect picture, yet it seemed to have "stirred those memories".

Pondria, I have taken quite a few baseball photos of my 6 year old daughter's first T-ball team experience. Still lots of autofocus frustration in portrait type situations. Lot's of background focusing on those ballpark chainlink fences, which the 505v finds much more interesting than 6 year old ballplayer faces. On shots like this one down the first base line I zoom in to a chosen spot beyond the base (looking for something that the 505v might be interested in in the general area of desired focus), and then switch to manual focus locking in that focused point. You are also right about the lens hood. I forgot to bring it with me on this day. I think that the reflection/flare is a combination of lens elements and my UV filter. Did you notice however that if I was going to pick up a lens flare in this situation that at least it was an appropriate shape? (diamond) Curt A.
