I'm new to this forum. Just got my G6 at the end of last week.

In any case, they have a really great price on it here:

http://www.clickfordigital.com/detail.tpl?cart=109642525764805&sku=CNPS-G6&productid=7266

BTW, moderator ... please don't erase this message. I am not a camera retailer. I'm just trying to give people a heads up on saving about $100 on a new G6.

To be fair, the one issue I had with the retailer is that they called me up saying that my card wasn't going through. Yet they tried to sell me all of these other accessories on the side. I have a feeling that they told a little white lie about the card not going through so that they would have the opportunity to call me up and get me interested in impulse buys.

But yeah, anybody who's looking to buy a G6 in the very near future should probably check that place out. I don't expect that they'll be selling these things for $100 off much longer.

There are quite a few retailers sub-$600. Go to pricegrabber or nextag and you'll find quite a few. Make sure to check the companies out at resellersratings.

I just ordered mine through Costco. It comes with a lot of extra goodies, the best being Costco's built in warranty.

Dell has had it for $594 (w/coupons from bargain sites) several times over the past few weeks. I would not buy from any of the lowest priced retailers found through the price comparisson sites. Most try to tack on handling, sell you a bunch of overpriced accessories, sell you a camera w/o warranty or worse just steal from you. I learned that lesson several years ago (fortunately got out of the deal before any damage was done) before I knew much about buying over the internet. It's worth a few extra bucks to buy from an established authorized retailer. There was a web site once that posted pics of several of these low priced resellers. Most are in NY and if you saw the storefronts you would run from doing business w/them.

Onecall, amazon, buy.com dell and crutchfield have gotten most of my electronics business in the last several years (plus a local home theater shop). Never had so much as a single problem w/any of them. Usually you can catch a deal if you look among the reputable retailers. I checked the costco deal and it seems pretty good. I may buy the G6 soon so I'll have compare the value of the costco accessories to the lower price at the other sites (most seem in the $640 range, unless I can catch another Dell deal).

http://www.buydig.com has it for $595 and their rating at Resellerratings is 8.02 lifetime and 8.72 in the last six months. The rating for Clickfordigital is 5.42 lifetime and 2.50 in the last six months. You decide who you would rather give you money to.

I have ordered three cameras from Buydig.com and have had excellent results each time.

Yeah, well. What am I gonna do, return the camera and tell them "you're not a reputable dealer, how dare you deal cameras"? It was a brand new G6 for $586. I've seen people posting on here talking about how they got the camera at Bestbuy for $699. I just wanted to show all of the potential G6 buyers that they need not pay $100 more for it. If the dealer I got my camera from is so bad, then why am I so happy with my purchase?

Why so defensive? I'm glad you got yours fine. What's wrong with informing people that they can get just as good a price from a more reputable dealer?

I just dislike the notion that a number can accurately detail the competence of a retailer, that's all. The vast majority of bad reviews I read for this place were from people who lived at APO addresses or half way around the world, complaining that they didn't get their order in 3 days flat. And for this, they gave the store absolutely crappy ratings. All I know is that my order arrrived on time and I was charged the price that I expected to be charged. Also, I am under Canon warranty. Everything is square. I got all of the accessories that normally ship with the G6, and it was new out of the box. This is all I can go on when I recommend the dealer to other people looking for a G6. What you have to go on is a number from some website. A number that is largely made up of people who are mad because their shipment didn't show up halfway around the world for two weeks.

I'm not trying to be bitter, I'm just saying.

I agree that the ratings for that particular vendor might not be highly accurate because there have only been 7 ratings given. I was simply giving an alternative, which is a well-known, established reseller with a proven track record. It's nothing personal.

The people paying $699 like the security of buying at a store. The regular internet price is $640. It's worth the extra few bucks to buy from an authorized vendor instead of some random place in Brooklyn. You got lucky (assuming they don't start charging random stuff to your credit card).

Mine came from BuyDig also - my first experience there - everything went absolutely perfect - no calls, etc., fast delivery. I went on the fact that they not only had a good price but the total # of reviews was large (coupled with the very favorable rating).

I'd take Costco for the camera. You not only get a good price with accessories, but you get their exceptional warranty/retrun policy.

Electronic gear of this nature has a good risk of failure or other frazzles. Most all electronic shops won't even deal with you after the first month of purchase. Not so with Costco. As long as you keep your receipt and you're unhappy with the camera even six plus months out, you can get a refund.

That level of trust with a store is unheard of and worth a good premium. Fortunately, for us, Costco offers great prices to boot! ;=) A true no-brainer IMHO.

Those rating are misleading. These etailer coach their customers to write apositive review about them in order to get their cameras shipped within the week, otherwise it's "out of stock".

By law, AVOID all types of etailers from NYC area. They are HUGE scam artists! Stories on the internet about them are littered with nightmarish negative reviews by customers who were scammed (i.e. refurbed, broken cameras sold as new and nonreturnable, charging cc's without shipping for 1+month, no servicing on extended warranties, camera being sold naked--stripped from accessories, etc, etc).

As previously advised, go with Costco for the warranty. If you want the lowest absolute price, choose Onecall.com. They'll pricematch the lowest price from an AUTHORIZED dealer.

You're kidding right? You actually think that they say "OK, as long as you write us a good review on Resellerratings, we'll ship your camera today." The scam artists don't give a cr@p about Resellerratings because there are enough suckers out there who only look at price and don't bother to research the history of the retailer.

You couldn't possibly be more wrong. I've spent over $5000 with B&H over the past 2 years, a couple thousand more with 17th Street Photo, a few hundred with Adorama, and around $1000 with Buydig and ALL have given me perfect service. The ONLY retailer I've ever had a problem with was Dell. Kinda shoots your theory in the butt doesn't it?

Most of the online scammers are in NYC -- that's true. But it is absolutely NOT true that all NYC dealers are thieves. The ones I mentioned definitely are not.

I fully agree. I just ordered a Canon G6 and a Canon s410 last night from Costco. Each comes with additional accessories as well as a built in extended warranty. The extended warranty itself is worth $100 at any online store. So in the end, it is a great deal.
