--I've just had my 20D for a few days and am very happy with it, it replaced my D60. One thing I noted was that the On/Off switch on the back of my 20D has not just two position i.e. just On/Off but there is a middle position. I've looked through the manual but could not find anything related to this middle position on this switch, somehow maybe I have missed it.

preventing the settings from being changed accidently. I never use it as I am always using the main wheel for compensation etc.

The first position is for the top controler button only to function, the - mark is to enable the multi controller and rear control dials.

Middle position = camera on but dial is off. For those situations where you don't want to accidentally spin the dial and throw in unwanted exposure compensation.

The position with the crooked line enables controls that aren't enabled in the on position. Note the symbol by that position of the switch. You will find the same symbol referred to in the book.

On some cameras the middle position is "timer off" and camera will shut down after certain period (programmable)

--Wel I guess I missed that alright but many thanks to those who replied to set me straight. Thanks again
