Hi,

I bought a set of Soligor AF macro rings. These work nice. I'd like to know which AF lens would best suit. I think of a 135 or 100mm lens because of the longer focussing distance. Seems to me that the 50/60/80mm oblige to be too close to the subject. I'll look at Sigma, I think. What's your opinion?

You have to be in your mind that you have to multiply the focus by 1.5 for your S1. I think a 135 shall be a bit long for macro (about 200 mm in comparison to 35 mm). It does depend to the subjects too.

By the tele the subject is out of view very easy when just a little bit moving your camera. So postitioning is more difficult.

A 60 mm Nikon Micro Nikkor is a very nice lens. As well for macro as also for portaits

It depends on what you are photographing, if it's flowers the 60 is great, but if it's bugs ( butterflies ) they fly away when you get close. then the 105 looks good.

Hi Leon,

You are so right, I used a Mamiya 645 for macros..........

So I forgot about the small format focus lengths and the multiplication factor of the S1 :)))

60mm seems a little short though, 90mm should suit what I am shooting.

Thank you for your help

Hmmm good question. If we take high end macro lenses, will the resolution of these lenses overpass the CCD resolution

I use Sigma 105mm F2.8
It's my best lense!

I personally don't like the factor 1.5; not at all. And sometimes I wish I could come closer to the object - however: my best lense.
