Just got the 64MB Smartmedia card from Newegg. I ordered the Dane Elec card. Nowhere on the card, invoice or order form does it mention Dane Elec. I am wondering if I got what I ordered.

For people that ordered the same card recently, do you have a label on your card?

Thanks, Debbie

I think there are only three factories that make Smartmedia. So the label is pretty much irrelivant. There's a pretty good chance the only difference between a Sandisk and Viking SM card is the label.

Of course Olympus is different. They write a little number into the card that says it's Oly ( even though they don't make it ) so your camera will allow panoramas. And then they charge $50 more than normal for it.

My Dane Elec. 64MB card came in manufacturers plastic packaging. No label or nothing on card stating it is 3.3 volt.

I got my Dane SM card form newegg several weeks ago. It also had no label but, what's the difference? They're all made by the same manufacturers and most importantly it works fine.

Toshiba, Samsung, and who else?

(My Dane Electric card came in Dane Electric retail packaging (not
purchased from newegg), but otherwise the card is as generic as
my Delkin cards. There's no need for a 3.3V label because in 64MB
size, that's the only voltage made.)

I got the retail pack. The card itself has no brand markings. Works fine.

Debbie, by the time I had learned of the newegg 64 mb smartmedia deals, the brand had switched to "Mr. flash". It came in a "Mr. Flash" package, but nothing on the card said "Mr. Flash" or anything else but serial numbers and "Korea". (Guess that means Samsung). Another poster reported ordering the Mr Flash and getting a Kingston. Whatever. Mine works, so I'm happy. I've hung out here nearly a year and have not heard a brand complaint (other than about the Oly deal of charging a premium for a card that the cameras will put a pano on).

So, if it works, start filling it up.

Thanks everbody! I feel better now! The only reason I had a concern was because there is a LIFE TIME warranty with Dane Elec and if I ever had a problem, how do I prove the card is from Dane Elec? Newegg said I just give them a call for a replacement. That's okay as long as Newegg is in business but when they go out of business, then what?

You know what I say, "who cares", I am just going to go out and start enjoying the extra MB's I have just purchased.
