20D Complaints? Gripes? Lets have it!

I never, ever used the On/Off switch on the 10D...

I have the 20D set to 'auto shut off' after 1 minute. It wakes up in less than a second anyway, whenever needed, so no need to manually turn the camera on or off with the switch.
I read in a review just put the program to turn off after 2 minutes
because just a touch of the sutter .02 it is back on; thus just
turn off when you put it away for the day. Is that correct?

I went to format a card that had been previously formated (fat32) on my pc. While the card was full, when I went to format in camera, the format function only showed 2kb used... only a minor annoyance.
whats wrong with the thing, save for the spot meter not being
present, what else is there to hate?

I have not read many complaints, as of yet.

This camera does more then any other camera in its price range and you've got complaints.

Lets see I read that it is as fast as the $4000 plus big brother and does a few things better. I hear they improved the noise level, the focusing the read time, the write time and allot of the words I am hearing is it is fast, fast, fast, fast.

Lets see I waited thru the 30, 60 10D Digital rebel and bought this one because it does what my old EOS systen does. Looks great, works great and when I get it I will hold it ,hug it maybe even kiss it and not complain about it.

My opinion learn to use what you've got not what you want, Like Rickie Ricardo said go see a phezzzea chia trist.

Same things here - but there seems to be a spotmeter-like function - if you shoot in evaluative metering and select manual focusing - the manual says it uses only the center AF point to meter - and initially it seems to work like I hoped.

I would have much preferred 1.3 or better, a real spot meter, bigger LCD with a protective cover.

Also a small niggle, I much prefer the taller design of the D70, and D100. The short grip of the 20D is a little awkward with larger lenses and I don't want to carry the extra weight of a BigED.

The raw conversion software could be a lot more functional.
1.6x ,..... 1.3x would be bareable,...
LCD,... 8MP camera ,..... 0.1 MP LCD,... the size of a 35mm
negative,...
unfortunatly, my old loupe does not give more details on that lcd,...
aa 2.2-2.5" aand 0.350MP OLED would be great,...
spotmeter,...
eyepiece shutter,.... well now we getting into the pro area,...
why hasn't anybody invented an addon,....
that should be enough, till we start using it,...
cheers, Robert Schultz

I dont have any complains yet but I am impressed with the speed.

This weekend I am shooting a few races and for that we shoot small/fine. I did a test today with my Lexar 40x WA 512Mb card and I was able to get 118 frames at 5 frames/sec before I ran into the buffer. Damn Impressive.

The manual said I should be able to get 60 frames. Either way I don't see it as a problem.

complaints...humm

I find the joystick a little hard to use.
maybe the shutter a little loud for weddings.

thanks about it. I don't really have any complaints.

I can't see the pic but I am guessing yellow?

I think they should ship it in this color:

what is that funny line-symbol above the on/off switch? what does it do? [awaiting my 20D and reading the PDF manual...]

thanks for all the feedback, sounds like a dang fine piece of equipment.

I still like the center point. I just focus and recompose. Plus you get better AF with the center point. I'm so giddy, its like my MarkII dreams come true.hehehe

How many times have you forgotten to change the ISO setting??? :-)

20D on preorder. 17-40 L, 28mm 1.8 USM.

I don't like how the bust indicator is only capable of displaying a
max of 9. its pretty useless and should either display the correct
number or it shouldn't be there. Displaying 9 just because the LED
cant go higher is just silly.

I don't like that it has no hole in the base for an alignment peg
for a tripod mount to prevent it from spinning off.

The 9 way button is a little small. it is usable, but on the small
side.

Its too much of a pain in the butt to switch to black and white
mode. Maybe add a 3rd function to one of the top buttons that was
color mode, so you could switch back and forth more easily.

The display on the back could easily be larger, which would make it
much more useful. I think it should be at least another .25inches
diagonally. I would prefer more, but anything larger than it is
now. It should be able to allow you to zoom in enough and display
well enough to check focus on the camera.

There aren't enough options for what to do with the set button on
the back.

If you open the CF door you loose your buffered images, this is
just stupid. I know it has been covered, but its stupid.

I want a serial data connector for GPS. this would cost almost
nothing as it could be just an 1/8 mini jack like a head phone plug
and the software is nothing short of simple.

I think all the settings should be accessible no matter if your in
a "creative" mode or not. Parts of the camera settings are blocked
out because they are irrelevant, but if your just changing settings
while your in the menu there is no reason to have to turn a dial on
the top to reveal more settings.

Don't get me wrong, this camera is amazing, but there is room for
improvements and my complaints are pushing it. They are very minor,
except the GPS. I really want gps data.

overall this camera works a lot better for what I do than my 10D did.
I'm wondering why the GPS thing is so important - can you tell me exactly why you use it and when. I see other cameras with the option but can't see the reason for general usage?
