Hi all!

Can anyone say whether it's safe to use a 85mm f/1.4 Nikkor with the TC-14EII teleconverter - and if so how well do they work together on a D100 or D70?

(I'm away from home, but can borrow both for a weekend shoot - but from different folks, so can't try until I have them both - won't ask the favour of the TC if it doesn't work)

Thanks, Eric good to know for sure.

Was offering a swop for the weekend of my 70-200VR for the 85 f/1.4 - so was just exploring what options there were for longer focal lengths - I cried off asking for the TC guessing it wasn't possible in the end.

Thanks for your help.

That TC works only with (some) AFS lenses. Plus, look at the rear element of the 84/1.4 - it is RIGHT out there.

Won't work with Nikon TCs but looks like it might with a Kenko Pro TC. See this thread: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1030&message=9950053

Hi again,
Paul,

Carefull with that lens....
You didn't say that soon enough to save me!
You may end up selling your 70-200VR
and replacing it with an 85 1.4 and a 200 2VR!
Not quite that bad - but I do now lust after the 85mm f/1.4 to add to the 70-200VR - the 200VR is just a dream (especially as there aren't any in the UK to tempt me nearby ;-)
BIG EXPENSE!
Yes indeedy.
