E100RS shot on E10 Day Board

Hi John, Actually it is probably no worse than those who willfully posted shots taken on days other than the 21st (E10 Day) and then said, "I know this was not taken on E10 Day, but I liked it so well I posted it anyway"!! Kinda' ticked me off. We all have shots that we have taken at other times and they ma be stunningly better than the ones we shot on the E10 deadline, but that was the whole purpose for E10 Day or I misunderstood the concept huh? There, I feel better now. Regards, Jim N AZ.

No you should not feel better.

They should be drummed off.
PERIOD.

I have not come across anyone who has said this but I'd kick up the most unholy row.

Ger, Don't want to ruin your day, but......this poster (below) mucked up mine for sure. Some people just don't grasp concepts well I guess. Regards, Jim N AZ.

Hi Jim,

I think the rules should be changed for the next day anyway. So many people were sick, the weather was diabolical, working etc etc on trhe 21st it would be sensible to have pics taken, say, up to a week before.

In each instance the poster has been honest about it. They could have changed the clock on their camera and not told anybody!

Just trying to bring a sense of perspective into what really is not a heinous crime!

See ya,

Richard

Jim, just to let you know, (sorry Ger Gee, for I love your comments…) that even though this shot of yours was not the right day, it is so stunning I selected it as one of my favorites.

Hi Ger

does it really matter? some of us did B&W, some of us shot too many, some of us cropped and sharpened - it wasn't a competition, but lots of us broke the rules a wee bit.

I wouldn't feel satisfied myself if I'd taken shots on another day - but I don't really have a problem with what anyone else did.

The vast majority of the shots on E-10 day were legitimate, and the whole thing was a huge success.

Live and let live

Kind regards

Well, Jono, it is an honour thing.

There was, after all only one rule to E10 day, or two if you count the fact that the camera to be used had to be an E10, and that was shoot on the day.

I think you have got a few of the rules mixed up with the challenge that was thrown down in the run up to the E10 day, which called for pictures from the camera within 15 meters of one’s home.

It was all the one then too anyway as several said they did nothing except …!!! Well there should be no except anything for that challenge but no such rules or restrictions applied to the E10 day.

And I did drop it – I did not want to spoil the spirit of the E10 day so I replied no further. And I am not going further with it now either. I had a great day and I know most others had too – it was a shock to the system for a lot and achievements that many may never have realised was within themselves, it has as much to do with character building as learning photography and using a camera.

The spirit of E10 day is great. [-)))

Just an opinion but .....

The originators of E-10 day, Vance et.al, set the rules. Images taken on 21 April. The participants should adhere to the rules. This is aimed at no one individual but it seems today's society is all to willing to "change the rules" or allow the rules to be changed if they don't like them. We are becoming a society who believes rules are for others, not for me.

Just an opinion,

The e10 day event was a huge sucess. Many were involved. As an educator when things get this big it is difficult to get everyone on the same page. It is frustrating, but it is a fact of life. I would say that for the amount of posts that fit the spirit of the day, we and the event earned an A+++.

This is not to say that I excuse the over sights on those who posted not in the spirit of the day, I don't. A lot of us arranged as best as possible to take pics on that day. Some of us at the last minute for various reasons (illness, work, stolen camera) could not participate, but gave e10 day much support. On the other hand I don't think the posters who tweaked the rules meant any harm, but most likely got caught up in the activities. It was a pretty awsome thing you know.

So I appreciate Ger's comments as well as Jono's.

Best now to move on the our next challanges.

I think as long as a person notes exceptions in a photograph's caption it's not something to get too upset about. Far more serious would be someone posting "fakes" without making any note of them. To me, posting an E-10 picture which has been modified (levels, whatever) in a photo editor without declaring it in the caption is much, much worse than posting a single picture taken with an E100RS (clearly labeled as such).

Ditto for the flower picture that was clearly labeled as having been taken on a different day.

Now I'd just like to say how much I enjoyed being a virtual spectator on E-10 day. I would have enjoyed it just as much had it been open to any camera but I fully respect and understand the rule(s) which were chosen.
