Just installed the hack!

MLU is great on the 300D - use it all the time for the night photography. I like how it's implemented, setup the delay that you want, enable it, and just hit the shutter. I don't like how it's done by Canon - hit the shutter button to lift the mirror then again to open the shutter. With this you definetly need a remote and with Wasia's method, you don't.

Something that I'll have to purchase (remote) with the next Canon unfortunately.

This hack is great, especially mirror lockup, ISO 3200 and FEC. I
was wondering if Wasia is still working on the selectable AI Servo
option. When AI servo turned on, I was so excited, until I
realized you couldn't take a picture while it was on!
each time I use the camera on tripod I use the mirror lock. I also
use the mirror lock when I have to do slow shutter speed handheld.
It really help to stabilize the photo.

Sorry for the silly question, but where can I download this hack from?

Thanx,
Johan

Got it, thanx!

I'll install it as soon as I get my camera back from Canon - they're replacing the mirror housing at a cost of $250

yes and no - you can put it in servo, but you can't take a picture, unless you depress the shutter release button and quickly press it again. or you - while holding the shutter release down - switch the lens to MF.
in other words, you can't put it in servo.

btw, iso400 is not that bad and you can still achieve a lot in sports mode.
does the hack allow you to be in say, manual mode, and force AI
servo? (i know the camera often figures out when Servo is needed
and invokes it ... but not always ... pain when tracking something
like a skier or snowboarder at high speed.)
mine kicks into servo a lot, because at long zoom you shake a lot
and AF sensors pick up the change in contrast and hence engage the
servo mode. kinda depends on how the cam is calibrated (some people
a year ago had it made less sensitive to kicking into servo).

you could use your hand to trick it into servo, sports mode, hack
and the double press method or you could just go and buy a 10d or
20d...
i never considered this to be usable, but if juggler get's it
working, i might give it a try. i just got my sigma 70-300 apo and
i noticed that it goes in servo all the time on it's own, so no
hack really needed with it :)
Thanks for the tip. Just tried it. Wouldn't it cause camera
shake, though?

I installed the hack too, I used the 70-300 Sigma, but I still do
not understand how to get servo going - I was at an air show
yesterday and got awful results. Can you help?

Take the case of trying to photograph a flower on a windy day (something I do quite often) With the Canon way you can lift the mirror and then wait for just the moment for the wind to die down momentarily and then take the picture. With the Wasia you have no control over the moment when the picture is taken - it's a fixed time.
Something that I'll have to purchase (remote) with the next Canon

To the person who asked why you would want to force Servo: AIAF
takes a second of looking at a moving object to go into servo, and
(I believe) resets after every frame. If you know you're going to
be shooting moving things all day long, or you're shooting
something that's currently stationary but will start moving soon
you may not be able to wait for AIAF to catch on.

Ben
Is there an indicator that tells when you're getting AI Servo instead of One Shot? I saw the green focus dot flash when I was messing around with it a few minutes ago. Was that it? It also seemed like it was in Servo mode without the dot illuminating at all.

$250??

I just got my second body back from Canon and they replaced the shutter, mirror, and focusing screen, plus cleaned the sensor and lubed the body (my 70-200 focuses dang fast now) and they did it all for free in 4 days, plus 3 days shipping (dang holiday). What did you do that they warrented charging you? This is the second time I have sent the body to them.

Also...within 10 minutes of opening the box the hack was back on my DReb.

I don't know if it matters, but everyone else does it, so:

I do not in any way endorse or recommend the modified firmware, nor do I take any responsibility if it damages your camera, person, etc. etc. etc. Furthermore, installing the hack will void your warranty, assuming Canon finds out.

Anyway, get it at http://satinfo.narod.ru/en/download.html .
Thanx,
Johan

With the new hack, how do I set up to shoot MLU? Do jI just select it from the custon functions? What is the method I should use for this to work properly? In addition, how do I choose the one-shot option without the AI Servo kicking in? I notices with the left button that there are some options here as well. What does each of the three mean?

Phil has REPEATEDLY ASKED that NOONE, that includes YOU to post a link to the hack. We can discus it all we want, but there is to be NO DIRECT LINK. It is not official Canon software, but modified with out Canon's permision and Phil is looking out for this site. So STOP POSTING IT. You want it, go to google and search for it. If you can not find it, then you should not even think about installing it. In fact, sell your DSLR and go back to film.
