I just put up a gallery of shots I took at the free show outside the Treasure Island Casino in Las Vegas. Between speed of the 50mm f/1.4 and the high ISO capabilities of the D70, I was extremely pleased, though I probably should have used ISO1600 and closed the aperture for a bit more depth of field.

Shot in JPEG and NR using PSP9Beta.

Great shots! You've caught some good moments, and from the look of the girls, it looks like a good show :-) And I'm amazed at how well the D70 coped with the contrast of stage lights! And to be able to get clean shots like that at high ISO would be imposiible on film! I've found ISO 800 perfectly acceptable for most shots. Thanks for sharing!

Great shots. The exposure was well balanced and I like how you managed to freeze that action (i.e. water running off the guys climbing the ladder). Looking at your gallery was like looking at a series of postcards sold by the hotel. Just picture perfect.

Well done and thanks for sharing.

Oh ya - The girls weren't too hard to look at either ;o)

Thanks Thomas,

It was a good show. I had intended to go back and watch it again w/o the camera, but never got around to it. Sometimes you can miss a bit staring through the viewfinder.

Luckily, the show was outdoors and right at dusk. There was enough ambient light left around that I wasn't dependant on the stage lighting for the most part. I suspect I would have had a much tougher time at one of the later showings which would have been lit solely by the stage lights.

Many thanks,

The D70 did a superb job with the exposure using matrix metering. And I must agree, it was quite a pleasant view, though some of my coworkers accused me of focusing too much on just the girls. :)

Absolutely great work, but I don't think you focused too much on the girls, especially not the blonde...

Quick question for you... in Pbase, how did you get the gallery to look like that with the white borders around each pic???

Thanks,
Steve

Thanks Steve,

PBase allows you to assign a style sheet to your gallery on the edit gallery page. There a number of choices to choose from, and you are also allowed to create your own. (Edit Style Sheet link on the edit gallery page) I've pasted in the code that goes in the style sheet I used below:

Honestly, I only understand a fraction of the above, but the PBase help has some links to further explain style sheets and how to create/use them.

I would be happy to give you more detailed instruction if you'ld like, but I'm about to leave town, so it will probably be Sunday or Monday before I can respond.
