Is it a twister?

Hi all,

A couple of days ago we had this unusual sunset. These cloud formations look like something i seen on the tube. Usualy about twisters in the US.

Let me know what you think. Comments welcome.

Enhanced a little with dcenhance to boost the colour a little.

Twisters are below the clouds not above them as in this shot (nice shot BTW)

I believe what we are seeing is the suns rays being blocked by that very large thunder cell out there and it's just not letting the sun reflect on the clouds in the foreground giving that "twister" shape to the shadow.

Having just been under a real twister last Saturday afternoon, I can confirm that your photo is not one. Just an interesting shadow in the clouds, in my opinion.

We had a small F1 cruise across Wrentham as a front came through, breaking a lot of trees, squashing a few cars and house roofs. Nobody hurt. We were right on the edge, and the whole thing was over so fast I had no time to grab the S602. See my cleanup photos at:

Great photo, quite dramatic and I love the color, but it looks to high up to be a twister, now if it was lower to the ground it could resemble one.

Thanks for the comment.

The colour was boosted a little with dcenhance, just to bring it out a bit.

I took 5 shots on different settings, but this is the best.

Definitely not a tornado. Looks like an optical illusion. But still a great shot.

Don't have the link, but shouldn't be hard to find. I think it's
too late now anyway, they always show pics relating to "today's"
weather... You let the chance for "eeuwige roem" pass by :-)

Don't have the link, but shouldn't be hard to find. I think it's
