    Possible 1Ds X?

Oh yes they will. 18mp is just insufficient pixel density for the massive expanse of a full frame sensor. I won't buy a new camera until they do (pro body 39mp 1Ds X). -- Tacksharp

new 24-70 - why no IS?

Yeah, I would have loved to have IS as well as internal zooming for true weather sealing. But, my 1D4 has been begging for a standard zoom for two years, and this one likely has the image quality I've been holding out for. The 17-55 spoiled me on the 1.6x croppers. I pre-ordered the new 24-70 II...

    Any pics of 24-70II extended?

No substitute for superior optics, though. And I like the lower weight. -- Tacksharp

Canon when are going to have a fast Full Frame camera like Nikon?

Moore's Law: Processing power doubles every 18 months. The 1D Mark IV was announced 16 months ago... A 32mp FF with 2 digic V processors pushing 10fps would be sweet. -- Tacksharp

What's the point of IS on lenses >400mm?

On a tripod, do you notice when you press your shutter half way (or back focus), and the IS is activated, that the torque of the IS spinning up causes the lens to pull slightly to one direction as seen through the viewfinder? I would think you'd need to spin up the IS and let it stabilize before...

Ditch the FF constraint and use the 1D Mark IV. Problem solved... -- Tacksharp

    Lens Replacement for 18-55 IS

I know you want to spend less than $500. But, save up for awhile and buy the Canon 17-55. There's nothing better in the standard zoom range. The lens makes all the difference if you care at all about photography. -- Tacksharp

    New 24-70 2.8L IS

Nothing firm. But, it appears Canon will be rolling out a slew of replacement lenses in 2011 per Canonrumors.com. I'd be shocked if this lens or some variation of it isn't announced in 2011. I'll pre-order as soon after announcement as possible. I'd also freak over a 17-55 f/2.8L IS. On a 1D...

    1Ds Mk 4

Agreed (except I'm not big on the video thing). Also, I'd really love the ability to switch the optical viewfinder to a LiveView mode and back to optical on demand. -- Tacksharp

    1Ds Mk 4

I don't know about "patterning," but Canon has already eliminated banding noise in the 7D and 1D4. The noise that is there is color free until you get extremely high in ISO. And the grain is nice and even. So, that issue is squashed already. They will roll out that improvement to all new Canons...

    1Ds Mk 4

32mp gives lots more opportunities to trash a large sensor. The 7D has 18mp (far fewer opportunities for bad pixels) on a very small piece of silicon wafer that would be relatively inexpensive to replace compared to FF. -- Tacksharp

    1Ds Mk 4

Not a consideration. I DON'T want image degradation. -- Tacksharp

    1Ds Mk 4

Pitch isn't really the issue. Big sensor, lots of pixels, big potential for trashing a big silicon wafer. You trash a tiny 450D wafer, no big deal. Canon will do what they need to get it right, though. I don't really want to pay 8 or 9k for "not too much image degradation." -- Tacksharp

    1Ds Mk 4

My guess is that it will be announced sometime in August, and go on sale a couple of months later. Class-leading IQ and a whopping price to match, since 32mp spread out across a FF sensor will take some serious quality control. -- Tacksharp
