In my opinion a K1000D (or K2000D) is more likely to be announced... If market share increases the next months and years there may be a K1D but I would expect lower models before. That would correspond to what Pentax has done before (*istDS before K10D - starting K-series with K100D and not with...
It's always a risk to use something new. But Samsung has had much success in recent years with different developments. The new sensor will surely not be a technical "wonder" but I expect to be solid work - remember that it took more than 2 years since the first announcements about cooperative...
The K20D has not yet reached the market and you start thinking about a successor to this model?! That's a bit too fast for me... Pentax has said that there may be either a K1D and a K1000D in the future but without giving a timeframe. Surely we are NOT going to see a K20D successor this autumn...

What Pentax has confirmed after the press release is that they will have AF on old bodies and the K10D.

There is no newer or different information about that. Latest information is still that at least the two upcoming DA* lenses in March (16-50 and 50-135) will have dual af system. It has also been confirmed for the 60-250 although there are thoughts about changes in product design.

According to Pentax there will be a firmware update in January/February fixing the problem in bulb mode.
So they are working on this problem and hopefully able to fix it soon (although I won't take many photos with more than 30 sec)
