    A6400 for macro

with the 90 mm you don't have to get too close, and you shoot with tracking and a burst of shots. obviously you don't get it much of the time, but you do get good shots. And remember, bees stop on flowers! kdoc

    A6400 for macro

In addition: with tracking on and burst shooting, even with hand held, you can get excellent macro, even 1:1. And the 90 mm FL allows a reasonable distance from the subject. I highly recommend it. kdoc

Exciting times ahead: 2 new APS-C cameras to be announced in August

Thanks: while I don't trust the rumor mill, at least I now know that having two stabilizing properties in the future will be worthwhile, and that, for my dominant right eye, there's no advantage to a central EVF. kdoc

Exciting times ahead: 2 new APS-C cameras to be announced in August

With all this news--exciting, real, or another false rumor, whatever??--can you folks please answer two questions for me: 1. When using Sony APS-C lenses with Image Stabilization (Most of my lenses have IS) does in-camera stabilization further improve the stabilization? In other words, is...

    Sony 90 mm 2.8 Macro

Ahh: there's something I never would have figured out in a million years. I'll have to test the various permutation of camera vs. lens MF/AF settings. Thanks kdoc

    Sony 90 mm 2.8 Macro

I love this lens, and on my Sony a 6400 it even Auto focuses and tracks and gives me an excellent "hit rate" when hand-held, image stabilization, and shooting Macro--even at or close to 1:1. (I auto focus-track at the closest I can easily get), then, once locked in, slowly edge in closer to a...

a6400: AF drive speed and tracking sensitivity

So, until further notice, we either take it on faith that those apps won't work in AF-C for stills...or, when we get a moment we figure out some experiment where we can test the hit rate under stressed conditions with and without AF drive speed and tracking sens being changed. I say that...

a6400: AF drive speed and tracking sensitivity

Thank you. May I respectfully ask, is that opinion based on any data or inside information? I suspect you're right, but was just wondering, or hoping... kdoc

a6400: AF drive speed and tracking sensitivity

AF drive speed and tracking sensitivity is for "movies" only. But "movies" (video) use AF-C just as still image photography often does, including for tracking. Therefore my question is whether these two settings (AF drive speed and tracking sensitivity will also influence still image...

a6400 Questions on Tracking Sensitivity and Auto Focus

I remain unclear about selecting "balanced emphasis" instead of AF when shooting most stills (exceptions mentioned above). Why take a chance in shooting an out of focus shot. Can you and others comment on the effect of balanced emphasis, frequency of OOF shooting, particularly if you're not...

a6400 Questions on Tracking Sensitivity and Auto Focus

Clearly Auto Focus and Tracking in the a6400 is fantastic. Still I have a few questions Tracking Sensitivity: Tracking on the a6400 can still be imperfectly sticky when there’s interference in either the foreground or even background. I can discover only a couple of settings for “Tracking...

ISO Auto Min SS vs. Manual Mode-Auto ISO

Comments in black, below. Why not set "AF" (under Priority Set in AF): then you're IN FOCUS when you shoot. With "Balanced Emphasis" it's true you may get more images, but many will be out of focus, won't they? Except for when a lot is happening rapidly and you want documentation of it, why...

ISO Auto Min SS vs. Manual Mode-Auto ISO

I think we all basically agree about preventing blur by setting SS or Min SS. But with every solution and agreement, more questions always arise: that's 'Science." How to minimize Blur while working with IAMS? 1. Subject motion blur can be controlled by a sufficiently fast SS. This...

ISO Auto Min SS vs. Manual Mode-Auto ISO

I think we're talking about two things, Spaceman. What I was trying to convey or ask about, concerned the affect of image stabilization on the validity of using the formula, 1/FL (corrected for APS-C sensors). What is the "assumed" correct formula for a safe SS when correcting for FL when image...
