Someone will correct me, but I believe that video shooters cares more about vignette, distortion and aberration than about sharpness. Any time the camera pans about, those flaws pops out like mad. The proof for the need of a square sensor?
The cost increase of a sensor follows a cubic asymptotic behaviour. This is why FF cost so much yet so little compared to MF. That said an extra 33% on a 43 chip may not concretely represent a whole lot more , but it is not linear. With that said, I suspect that deploying such chip in a camera...- julieng

The proof for the need of a square sensor?
One of the reason I keep reading on why having a square sensor is for shooting portraits. I don't want to sound conceited here, but I holding camera upright in portrait mode is a fairly easy technique to learn. A square sensor sounds like overkill to me. For whatever my opinion is worth...- julieng

I get it and I think the same way : not every one wants, let alone can have the right format for the right lens. Most m43 users only uses m43 and that's it. I would not buy a dedicated 35mm for more blur on TS lenses and that's why the option is cool. I have been avoiding equivalency debates...- julieng

Art is not all about beauty. It can be, but it's not a must. "sublime" is the jargon in philosophy of aesthetics for the powerful representation in art form of the ugly, the horrible, etc. And indeed, well done photos of a concentration camp can be striking.- julieng

I never swap primes thinking "I specifically need 25mm" . Maybe that's me having the mentality of a "zoom user" if there is such thing, but I simply pick whatever prime at my disposal that I believe will cover the most tightly the composition I have in mind at the moment.
