    GBH (G9 + Canon 55-250 STM)

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On your advice I checked out Lensrental, Google Shopping, and Ebay for the Metabones Smart adapter - Wow, buying used is definitely the way to go! With respect to fast focusing, I believe the G9ii only uses PDAF in AFC mode and tracking and that it uses DFD for AFS mode -...
    GBH (G9 + Canon 55-250 STM)
    The fact that the lens with a Metabones adapter does accommodate AFC and PDAF is good news for subject tracking. I'll have to check out pricing for their lens-free adapter. It will be interesting to see if the Metabones firmware update also improves focusing speed. Thanks for the info!
    Clouds ....
    Nice pictures. I especially like the first photo - I've never seen a cloud formation like that, very intriguing.
    GBH (G9 + Canon 55-250 STM)
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It sounds like your results about the somewhat poor autofocus speed pretty much agree with those of TheRealYeats. Since I wanted the camera/lens combo primarily for wildlife pre-burst capture and tracking, I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and buy a...

    The combo does not sound like a winner. Thanks so much to both of you for taking the time to reply !

    GBH (G9 + Canon 55-250 STM)

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On the off-chance that you still frequent this forum, I have a couple questions about the Canon lens since I’m thinking about getting a Panasonic G9ii and this lens. Does the G9 autofocus seem noticeably slower with the...
    Lumix Livestream Announcement Coming October 16th
    Aside from the advanced options, it is obviously a Lumix version of the RX10m4. What it does offer me in particular is an upgrade from my FZ1000: - expanded optical focal length range, - better and faster focus in general and better tracking in particular, - worthwhile new features (HHHR...
    Lumix Livestream Announcement Coming October 16th
    To dream the impossible dream: an FZ3000 with a 24-600mm f/2.8-4.5 lens, hybrid DFD-PDAF focusing, hand-held high rez capability, pre-burst capture, and advanced tracking (animals, BIF, etc.).
    Which do you prefer and why? 4 takes on an hourglass
    I prefer # 3 - I really like the composition's color and I find the symmetry of the shadows and highlights intriguing. Great photo! I find #'s 2 and 4 too simple and # 1 kind of dizzying.
    Post your photos with Canon compacts
    This picture of an insect snacking in a cactus flower was taken with the venerable SX50 camera. It was mildly edited (levels adjusted, denoised) via Affinity photo. The lens on this camera is remarkable. If you download the original, blow it up and look at the lower right part of the insect’s...
    My New Lumix FZ2500
    I downloaded the “original size” jpgs for the 3 pictures you supplied. My comments as to possible problems with sharpness: Looking at the EXIF files for the photos, all three pictures share the same two features that can negatively affect the focus on the front of the train – 1) The auto focus...
    What's happening to my 12 yer old FZ1000?
    A theoretically possible scenario: - You had the camera set for "Focus Priority" shutter activation - Either you put the lens cap on or the lens was pointed at something too close for the lens to focus on given the current zoom level - You accidently depressed the shutter - You turned the...
    Does lens look fuzzy to you? Are my expectations too high?
    One suggestion - stop using pinpoint focusing on every subject. Instead try a small 1-area focus box.
    Zerene stacker: PMax result can come handy for selective retouching to mitigate "halos"
    As per a post in a photomacrography forum, someone stated that Affinity Photo does the Pmax correction for you: Source: https://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=47085&p=295974&hilit=affinity+stack+pmax+dmap#p295974 "Affinity makes DMAP and PMAX (Helicon B and C) at once, and...
