Lens Buying Guide
The original 70-200 is good if you're sticking to DX, but since you're planning to upgrade to full frame, you need to get the VRII version or your images will suffer from soft corners and vignetting.- davoid

D90 - Newbie Lense Advice
D90 doesn't have an all plastic body - it has a "good metal chassis" according to dpreview. That's why the D90 feels significantly heavier and more solid/robust than all-plastic DSLRs.- davoid

Bad CA with good sharpness vs average sharpness in detail
Well I'm planning on getting the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8, and I would also have 'only one shot at it' At this point (11mm) you are in Ultra Wide territory and even 1mm makes a difference in 11mm over 12mm as shortest focal length. Which is Best?
I like the second one best because you get a greater sense of space, due to the larger sky and water, and you can see it's potential. It must be annoying for you that people are dismissing what is quite evidently proof that the camera isn't focusing where it should. It's a shame you changed to the top focus point, giving others an excuse to dismiss your experiment as 'inconsistent' because, a) you could have easily focused on...- davoid

The red bush tea on the right is definitely the sharpest of the three. Looks like a back focus problem to me, as it also did on the bicycle wheel.- davoid

Upgrading to D5000 or D90
I would say upgrade to the D90 if you feel like you want to. It doesn't mean that you're obsessed with upgrading and will want another better model in six months' time as people have suggested. It just means that you have learnt your skills on an entry-level DSLR as many people often suggest...- davoid

You can see from these three pictures that you have resolved your problem of blurring within the field of focus by simply using the remote to trigger the shutter, as the middle shot is now sharp. It's a very strange phenomenon you have there because you can see the depth of field with out of focus areas before and after your field of focus, BUT you have no focus within it. To my mind it looks like motion blur, but you say it was tripod mounted. Maybe you should trigger by remote or set...- davoid

Why did Nikon discontinue the SB800?
I'm sure it would hurt sb-900 sales, but its their own product - surely they wouldn't have lost revenue. I can't imagine they sell as many sb-900 units as they would have sb-800s. I think they have probably driven customers away from Nikon due to the big gap in their product range, as 3rd party...- davoid

I agree. I don't think it would fit in my camera bag. Way too big. Glad to hear you're enjoying your sb400 - that's going the other way size-wise. I hear they're very nice.- davoid
