It's the only F-mount lens I kept after moving onto Z-land and it would be really hard for me to get rid of it. It shines for environmental portraits as others have said as well.
I don't know if I would buy it for Z-mount, however. I don't really like the "feel" with the FTZ. It was much better...
Hi,
I've not measured anything, but as a new Z7 II user here with few F mount lenses, I did feel a little decrease in AF speed when I checked how those lenses behaved on my new camera using the FTZ adapter.
Is it the FTZ adapter? Is it the camera? Is the speed really different? Not a clue...
Hi,
I'm on the contrary very eager to see them announced and tested. I have the excellent 28 1.4E so I hope the 40 delivers reasonable quality and I'll be in!!
Cheers,
Hi,
As some others have said, I agree you may need some time to get used how Z cameras work.
I'm not new to mirrorless but after 5 years enjoying my D810 it felt a bit akward when I first used my new Z7 II: I could do many things very quickly with the D810 and on the Z you need to dive in few...
I do agree the Nikon 35 1.4 rendering is veeeery nice.
Had the Sigma and traded it in shortly afterwards for the Nikon. I really loved it... until I gave another chance to the 28 1.4 (first copy I got was a lemon unfortunately). IMHO, If the focal length works for you is like combining the...
Hi,
I'm sorry to read about your experience.
I've been playing with my new 35 1.4G for a couple of weeks and - for me!! - it's excellent. No need any fine tunning and sharp enough at F1. 4. In fact, at 1.8 it was sharper than my copy of the 35 1.8G in the centre...
I also had Sigma Art 35 and...
Thank you very much for posting about this.
I was in the same situation as you: something went between focusing screen and the prism... no matter how hard I used the blower it didn't go away. I even tried to "wet clean" the screen whilst assembled with no improvement. I was tempted to remove it...
Hi,
I guess I'm a bit late as you have already purchased the Tamron - which is not a bad lens.
I bought it new in 2015 in Japan. I was happy with it until I discovered it had a slightly decentering issue (I can't remember now correctly, but the same side of the image was always a bit sharper...
Hi,
I had similar issue once. You need to confirm what is role of CF card in this case.
I downloaded firmware and stored on SD card. However, it was set as overflow only and same issue as you happened. I switched it to be main card and I was able to update firmware.
Hope it helps!
My biggest issue was (and still is) with the 58 F1.4.
Also my 24-70 was heavily affected...
I only have 1 Tamron lens currently, the 70-300... which is just about OK. So I'm not worried about it too much to be honest...
Hi,
I had exactly same issue. Sent D750 for the shutter replacement (mine was affected just on the latest recall). I received it back and ALL my lenses required severe AF tuning figures, some needed even more than +20. Prior to the replacement, most of them where dead on at 0 (so no fine tune...
It depends how you use them... I think 58 is not about sharpness, although it is plenty sharp from about f2.8 onwards. Wide open is different story. But it makes transitions so nicely....
I have no complaints with 24-70 sharpness at any setting. But it doesn't have that magic 58 has (not saying...
Hi,
I use 24-70 as my main lens on a D750. I'm veeeery pleased with it. I have no intention to ever replace or stop using it.
I also have 58 1.4 and 85 1.8. I bought 85 as sometimes, 24-70 is not enough at 70 for what I want as a portrait (a bit wide) not to say 58.... However, 58 has magic and...
