When - next Canon 10D camera upgrade ?

Does anybody know whether there is a 10D camera upgrade due in the near future or whether the current model will still be around for some time ?

This is asked here about once a week. The general consensus is that
a replacement may be announced at Photokina in September but it's
all just conjecture.

Agree with Todd.

For Annette : You just buy a Nikon D70... Why your interest for the next 10D? ;-)
 
Does it really matter? All you need is AV,TV,M and a mount for the lens. what else would you want?

Thanks for the responses.

I decided that the Nikon D70 is not the right camera for me and returned it to the shop. I am used to a Canon. I will most likely settle for the 10D.

Bells and whistles. Lots and lots of bells and whistles. Well, not really. But Eye Control Focus would be cool. I miss it from my Elan IIe.
 
New Camera shown probably in September. Shipping MAYBE late November/December - realistically you won't see one at your local camera shop until after all the back orders are filled (which could take months to fill) - so you're looking at March/April next year realistically......

I'd get a 10D now - it's an amazing camera and will give you the feel the Nikon can't....

i trust that you have the right info based on your previous 'predictions' ...
can u elaborate further on the 'update'? will be be an update or a replacement?
update means same body. maybe a new CMOS, a new ETTL...

replacement means a new body and whole new sets of enhancements...new crop, new CMOS, new features?...
Any further info u can 'divulge' would be appreciated.

Personally, I would like to see an af-assist lamp that isn't the flash (or better yet the option to go with af-assist lamp or flash as the af-assist lamp), crop factor closer to 1, faster fps, larger buffer (12 raw would be nice), ability to save to cf card while shutter is open, a sharper LCD screen, and an AF that doesn't have trouble with fast lenses.

so glad i took it. was trying to hold on for the replacement...got slapped around...this was in may, back when everybody was still saying june/july for the announcement.

it has already been worth the cost difference - ie, i expect to be able to sell it at a loss of $300-400; divide that over the months it will be a joy before the next one comes and that's peanuts.

only think i don't like is the 7-point AF; would reeeeeeeeeeally like some corner AF points; but i kinda doubt that's coming in this line. canon wants us to line-upgrade, not model-upgrade.

meh. it works.

Are you kidding? I would like the disable the two side points at all as they often focus out of subject. The only addition I welcome is 4 or more AF points around the central area.

And unless it has 1.3 crop i'm not interested. What about a sensor that has less than 8 mp, so it doesn't interfere with the 1DmkII and still make everyone a little happier? ;)
