ooooo what I heard about this weekend!!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure this might (or might not) be a sample of the exciting (or not) news. It was found at a web site in a language I could not read so I can't tell for sure if this is a Canon or something else. I can't remember the URL because it wasn't in English.

This is exciting news indeed!

Almost like a new art form. Your ability to turn an ordinary shap shot into a piece of art is amazing. Keep up the good work. :)

How sad. :(

I can't say what it is exactlly, but it involves canon and it's
really exciting. That's about all I can say. I don't know if well
hear about it at Photokina or not. When you hear about it, you'll
know what I was talking about. Just be on the lookout. I heard
this from someone who would definetly know.

Let me get this right, you can say ***** and **** but not cr@p on this forum; well f@%k me

What's the big announcement? Yeah....just as I thought. No announcement at all. Just a deafening silence from Canon. Stop wasting our time with these GARBAGE posts!

simply that he heard about it in "this" weekend (the previous weekend)?

Depends on your reading.

The original dude is from Zimbabwe. Not dishing Zimbabwe, but I wouldn't say they would be the first to find out high tech camera futures....but in the Windy City, I heard from a homeless dude that it was black and had metal in it.

how far progressed down the track this thing was. Would you hazard a guess at the soonest it possibly could be announced/released?

Photokina is a long ways off is all.

All those who ridicule him and say its a waste of bandwidth, etc is contributing to the bandwidth bottleneck by posting replies - see how long this thread is already with countless meaningless replies and jokes. :) :)

Everyone's curious and would like to hear about Canon's response to the Nikon D70. I am waiting for it myself and would welcome any news, be it solid specs or just a confirmed news that "something" will stir at Photokina.

What if the original poster did indeed gleam some info from his Canon contact, but cannot share it right now - did he do such an unspeakable thing by telling everyone that Canon is not leaving the Rebel to fight a mismatched fight with the D70?

I hope its a DSLR in the $900-$1300 range. I will have a couple of quality lenses by then awaiting a digital body.

A waste of bandwidth, time and O2; with any luck he’ll buy a non-canon camera and “contribute” elsewhere.

Wowwwwww!!!!
Finally some proof that there's no such thing as front- or backfocus.
1Ds owners eat your heart out.
Great picture, keep up the good work........

and he doesn't even know it. What a joker. I have some secret info too. It involves every company on the planet. From what I hear, they will be making some announcement about some new or improved product in the future. You're not suppose to know about this secret. There you go, I blew the top off this secret. ...and yes, Canon is in on this conspiracy to announce new and/or improved products sometime in the future!
Not even a hint!!! I'd be afraid, they know too much already!!!

oh, OK...how big is is then, you can at least tell us that...and
what color is it?

What's with 'oooh.. I know something I gotta tell you.. o, but I can't tell ya cuz I'm not supposed to'

That's so juvenile!

So it's a 10D Mark2, big deal. just say it!
if it's something else? Fine, just say it.

Like it really matters! We all know Canon is releasing like 3ga-zillion billion cameras with 2000x zoom that takes you from 1mm to 2000mm, plus 200x digital zoom and Image stabilization that allows the space ship to film itself even under 20G force! Oh, and it runs on perpetual motion power generator... and it all fits in a space smaller than a dime!... with 90MegaPixels, and a new Lossless JPG format that gives 3x the data of RAW files, but takes a fixed sized 10byte file.

All that! and no flare, vingetting, and costs $10 (AFTER a lifetime extended warranty, Tax, shipping AND Handling!)

.... but I don’t go around torturing poor innocents, I know it is the passion season and the season of the fool, but for all that what you heard is true.

But watch Nikon's announcements, the product is on, metaphorically on a ocean going carrier, fuelled, armed and ready to go, it’s just waiting for Nikon to launch something that’s the most frustrating part to know I could have the camera of my dreams right now, it exists ands it is fantastic, but I guess Canon just like torturing ........

A wasted post with no value other than entertainment. Check the poster’s profile, do you really believe someone with this profile has a clue? And no, I’m not curious about Canon’s answer to the D70. All rumors are unsubstantiated until the manufacturer releases details, folks that do have pre-release information are under CDAs anyway.

dpeview should consider create 2 new forums: 1 for “when will they update…” rumors can go there as well,; the second forum could be “gee I wish”. The later new forum would be frequented by manufacturers as a source for input into what a few people want.

No, I didn't check his profile. :) Will do that right away.

Lucky you! I dont have a DSLR anymore and am looking out for one and with the D70, its making the choice tough. I hope Canon announces a new 10 replacement by fall.

Anil

I understand your dilemma, if I did not have the 10D I would be anxiously waiting to see what Canon’s next step is. You may be right, the Fall seems to be good timing for a new camera in that price range. Can you wait that long?
