Welcome to the Weekly Image Thread!

This thread will appear every Saturday (GMT). If the thread is nearing full before the next Saturday, I may start a new thread and carry on until it fills or the next Saturday arrives and it is reasonably full in which case I will start another. Confused, so am I! From time to time the start could be delayed if I am unavailable.

Although this Weekly thread is in the Olympus SLR forum, we openly welcome users of all brands and models.

These are from a trip to the local Botanical Gardens last month as the peonies are through blooming by May .. There was still a bud when I got there about Mid April

There were several buds but I saw no ants helping them open! ... But most were already open

And finally a bench

In the background .....

I am have troubles spending time on the computer to prepare these posts and even to spend much time here on line giving the appropriate time even for the short remarks I usually have for those here . So I apologize now in case I don't get back soon ... or engage in those conversations I usually enjoy ...

Looks like an enjoyable walk, Dave .. I fear I spend more time looking for a bench and a cup of coffee than on the trails these days ... So I do appreciate all the pictures you bring back and would like to get back on those trails ... but then ...

Nice pictures, Roy .... 42C is indeed hot here in late July and August we close in on 37C and maybe above a bit but it is the humidity that gets to me -- often above 75% and 80% ... would be nice if some of that humidity condensed and cooled us ...! ..... MAY! .. I hope that >37C isn't normal for you this time of year ....

Those are all lovely WN. Ours are beginning to bud now but will not open for a while. I do like peonies!!!

The first is my favorite; another of your wonderful macro/semi-macro masterpieces.

The other two just make me envious. The fact that orchids I've not had much luck keeping alive in my home grow wild where you live . . . but it's not enough to move somewhere that gets to 42°C (107°F) with 50% humidity!!

Thanks Lynne, glad you like the shots, about the weather is only a couple of days that bad the others go up to 35 max and the humidity got low unless is going to rain ….then it gets cooler…….the issue is we got a drought this year and last year but now gets better not extremely but at least we got some showers in April and may……

Thanks for your comment WhyNot……really appreciated it

Lochbuie looks beautiful in the sun Dave and the little white cottage is tucked away nicely amongst the shrubs.

The Scottish castles of that period were certainly strongly built.

A lovely set and good to hear from you again Roy.

I really like the wild orchids and the Dahlia? in the first picture.

I'd be no good in those temperatures though.

One of the smallest parish churches in England, St Olaf's dates back to before 1550, though there may have been one or more earlier churches on this site.

The church is the oldest building in Wasdale and stands at the side of the ancient packhorse trail over Sty Head. It is quite simple, a single unit under a pitched slate roof with a single bell cote at the west end.

The church underwent a restrained restoration in 1892 and in 1977 became known as St Olaf’s. Prior to that it was simply Wasdale Head Church. There's room to seat around 35 people.

Even 35 is way too hot for me. I'm unhappy any time the temperature goes above 25°C. Comes from living my whole life in Southern California 😾 . Several years ago the high temperature here got all the way up to 113°F / 45°C . Not fun with no air conditioning. Luckily it didn't last.

I guess it's all in what you're used to!

A solid but modest little church in what seems to be an isolated but beautiful location,Pete.

A stark contrast to recent events in Rome.

I'm sure you know how much I appreciate your company on my little adventures ,WN and let's hope we can continue to enjoy them for some time to come. My ebike will hopefully be of assistance to that end.

Dave

Lochbuie is a charming little place but a little bit too isolated for me,Pete.

There's almost a castle around every corner in Scotland. Scots seem to have been fighting with someone or other throughout history. A lot of the time it was among themselves.😄

Dave

I like peonies WN. They're one of my favourite flowers and yours are really lovely. Our peonies have little buds on them now so still some way to go.

Please take care of yourself, I know you'll be here when you can.

Dave

Thanks Roy.

You seem to have been having a rough time lately. Hope things are better now.
